Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

I saw that one fly at Oshkosh last year. It was really sweet.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

Man, I do hope Witty has plans to do some "Reno Air Races" color schemes for this bird like I heard last year.

Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

Thanks ZS

I really love the Sea Furies and will be adding one or two from Witty for my collection. I just wish they had gone that extra step to finish the otherwise great paint job.

I hope to see PappyB's Witty Israeli jet in person soon (hint, hint) as I like what I see in the vendor pics.

PS Black 6, great pics! Some rate Witty better than Dragon to give some perspective. Check out the Witty Israeli F16 thread.

Some Reno racer paint schemes would be great.

Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

I saw a Sea Fury at an airshow several years ago- one flown at Reno but I forget the pilot/owner's name. I fell in love with it. The absolute pinnacle of piston power (along with the Bearcat and Tigercat). Gotta love all those blades baby! Maybe a bit too late for the big show, but what a plane. A must have for any prophead.

Thumbs up Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

Re shooting down of Mig15. Pilot Hogey Carmicheal looked out from the cockpit of his Fury and saw a bunch of MG15s above. I wish they would come down and play said he. Joy of joys they did. Scratch one MIG15 and another went home a little bit air conditioned . It was a hell of a party that night on the carrier HMS Ocean. There is a famous photo of the Ocean steaming under full power with all the aircraft on deck. Sea furies and Firefly aircraft in neat measured rows. The photo was taken from the air. OK Fred you can put them away now (the aircraft ). Yes Sir said Fred and started to put them in the hangers below deck. When the job was nearly finished the shout went up. HOLD IT, HOLD IT bring them back up again the bloody camera was faulty. They want to film it again!!!! How do I know this? My best pal was the man called Fred. NB HMS Ocean had the best safety record of any carrier in the Korean conflict. Another little gem Fred told me, was that the winters out there were so severe that the oil in the front row of cylinders on the Furies froze!!They made some adjustments to the oil flow channels to compensate and all was well.
I love them props on that Sea Fury.
How good of a service record did the Sea Fury Have ?
