Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

Participation in Air-to-Air combat is not really critical, but some sort of substantial contribution to the war effort is. I don't want to end with a model depicting training or some other rear echelon unit.

Regards,

Sergey

Thumbs up Get a look at this scheme!

While shopping for a good deal on the Korean War Sea Fury (red spinner) I came across this upcoming Fury in Royal Australian Navy livery:

RAN Fury

I think this is a real nice scheme and would look great in a collection.

Sorry Black 6, had to invalidate your link as it went directly to a retail site and that is against forum rules. I agree that it is a sharp looking livery though. Here are some of the pics from merit-intl website.

Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

I want a Sea Fury but haven't been crazy about any of the first four liveries. After seeing the Aussie one I'll wait for her.

Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

Excellent of course, both in Royal Navy and foreign service.
After all, it was British.

Late in my commenting, but obviously then, it didn't have any British electrical components.

Guessing, but is FAA the abbreviation for Fleet Air Arm?

Why the ugly invasion stripes with its late entry?

The Aussie livery is a beauty - looks like a Naval aircraft should.

The stripes were put on in the Korean war as it was thought that it would help stop blue on blue instances. There were also worn by FAA Seafires, it seems as if in the early day of the war if had a prop up front and was not painted blue it got shot at.

Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

Hi Gang,
The story with the Aussie Seafury is that they served aborad the aircraftcarrier HMAS SYDNEY II < thus the letter "K" on both versions.

As part of the UN they flew ground attack and forward control for naval bombardment. The Blue 115 was done for air show displays and was stationed at Naval Air Station Norwa, so for tail letters NW.

There is a tale of a light airplane that managed to take off without a pilot, two Furys on training were dispatched to shoot it down.

Re: The Witty Sea Fury is here!!

Ya Who! Got E-mail confirmation from the Mule that the Sea Fury I ordered is in route. Getting the Dutch Sea Fury and Spitfire. Also get to set my hands on some Gemini Aces finally and see if all the hype is true, as they were tied to this order.
