Witty's F-14

Hi there. Looking to add a couple of affordable 1/72 Tomcats to my collection but am unsure as to which one to get; Forces of Valor, Witty, or Dragon. I'm trying to get good value for the buck along with accuracy & quality hopefully. Century Wings too pricey for me at the moment. Please let me know what you think?

Re: Witty's F-14

I bought the FOV Black Knights F-14 and haven't felt the need to buy any of the Century ones. For whatever reason I've never been a big F-14 fan so one was enough for me. The Witty ones seem to be pretty iffy though they have some schemes no one else has done. Dragon would be my 2nd choice after the FOV mould.

Re: Witty's F-14

You can buy a witty or a dragon so long as you never hear about what is wrong with them. Once you hear what is obviously wrong with them or compare them to actual photos, you'd just want to throw it away. Otherwise, you could always save up for the CW F-14. It'd be worth it.

Re: Witty's F-14

I think 1250ships is spot-on from past conversations about this around these parts... the FOV is considered to be more accurate I believe than the others and the best value, too, I think. I've never seen the FOV in person.

I have reference pics of CW, with a pic of Dragon, Witty, and Revell Toms here (click the link for page 2): Page Title

Re: Witty's F-14

I would go with the FOV F-14 it's far better then Witty or Dragons..

Re: Witty's F-14

Here are some quick photos of my FOV F-14. I have it displayed on the Dragon carrier deck that came with one of their Super Hornets. Note that it comes iwth a lot of weapon options. You don't have to have it setup like mine. I think the only F-14 I'd consider buying from Century is the launch configuration version but again I'm not a big F-14 guy.

Re: Witty's F-14

If a FOV Tomcat is in your price range, get it. It's basically a slightly less refined CW Tomcat. If you want the best Tomcats you have to go with CW. It would be worth the extra $'s. Witty's aren't worth it unless you take the time to modify them. Witty and Dragon have great schemes, but their molds are no where near CW's standard.

Re: Witty's F-14

Not much more to say---FoV is 95% as good as a Century, and WAY WAY better than Dragon/Witty. I'd put Revell above Dragon and Witty. If you can't afford Century, FoV is by FAR the best choice.

Re: Witty's F-14

After reading this, I think I'll stand my Witty Tomcat against the wall and shoot its wings off!

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Re: Witty's F-14

I have one Dragon and four CW F-14's. Compared to he CW's the Dragon one is a complete waste of money. I've seen the FOV version but since the difference in price is only e few euro's over here,
i got the CW version.
