Should I get a Witty or Dragon S-Hornet?

I would greatly appreciate if you guys could help me decide on which Super Hornet I should get. I want to get a two-seat F/A-18F. My choice is between Dragon's Red Ripper and Witty's Bounty Hunter.

I like the Red Ripper livery on Dragon's model and it looks like it comes with Sidewinders on the wingtip rails (never did like seeing AMRAAMs on the wingtips). Plus it has the correct speed brakes. But I worry about the undercarriage. I've read that on some Dragon models the undercarriage is too weak and bends under the weight of the diecast. Does Dragon's S-Hornet have that issue? Any other issues with this model?

My other choice is Witty's Bounty Hunter S-Hornet. I assume Witty's Bounty Hunter S-Hornet did not copy Dragon's fantasy speed brakes. Any issues I should know about Witty's model? Going on photos I see at Flying Mule, the only thing I don't like about Witty's model is that it has AMRAAM wingtips and looks a bit "plain" (it might just be due to lack of panel lines or the photos themselves - )

Apologies if I'm rehashing S-Hornet issues, but I need some encouragement from you guys to go one way or another.

Thanks.

Witty, Vifam7. I’m no expert, but Witty created true masterpieces. Strictly from an aesthetic point of view, they're works of art. They’re that good.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Well Vifam7, I'm far from an expert in modern birds either... All I can say is that I have had no problems with the u/c of my DW Super-Hornet...as I systematically use cyanolit for assembly ! (imho DW are diecast KITS, that require gluing to stay in one piece ! )

Id say dragon...for those of us who know the true colors of the aircraft dragons are much closer. plus you get realistic weapons and gear options. no white amraams that look like q-tips and no superhornet that is going mach 1 with its gear down.....

Hi Vifam7, I have both Witty and Dragon and I can't really say which is the better one as they both have their merits. But if you are interested in the Bounty Hunter scheme, Witty one may be missing the IFF box as it is one of the earliest releases.

Thanks you planenuts, bandit, and valkyrie. I think I'll go with Dragon this time around. BTW does anyone know where exactly did they got the idea of attaching AMRAAMs on the wingtip rails? I mean, every photo I have ever seen of the S-Hornet features Sidewinders on the wingtips. There must be a popular photo or artwork that got passed around.

Re: Should I get a Witty or Dragon S-Hornet?

I recently ordered the Dragon Tomcatters after reading a ton of stuff on here.

You might refer to these threads if you have not read them already. This Hornet discussion has gone round a lot.

Which Dragon Super Bug Versions Are Correct?

New Super E

Tomcatters Super E

To sum up, thanks to Dave Hingtgen ,"If it's one of their most recent ones, Dragon. If not, Witty. Avoid the earliest releases of either.

Why? Accuracy."

Thanks. I know there was much discussion but it was hard to remember all the details in each thread and which thread had the details I wanted. The links are very helpful.
