Mig 29 vs Su-27

I think I remember seeing pics of these two side by side somewhere on the forum, but is there really that much size diffrenece in reality? My WW Uzbek Su-27 looks like a 1/48 next to the WW Mig 29 and both are 1/72 scale, or is there some creative license going on here?

Re: Mig 29 vs Su-27

I have seen a real picture of the two side by side and SU-27 is really much larger than the MIG-29. Correct me if I am wrong, it is almost like comparing an F-15 and an F-16.

That's about right. I'm too lazy to look up hard data on Google, but Su-27 is a giant compared to MiG-29. F-15 to F-16 comparison is definitely valid.

Re: Mig 29 vs Su-27

The F-15 is actually smaller than the Su-27...the F-16 is about the size of a MiG-29, and that was no lucky coincidence. The Su-27 was meant to fight the F-15 as the MiG-29 was an aswer to the smaller F-16, they are counterparts of each other in the real world.
Has anybody seen an Su-27 carry drop tanks? Well, maybe yes, that is a VERY rare sight, because of its huge internal capacity...a lot of room inside, a bigger plane.
There are some pictures of the MiG-29K (marine version) on the deck of the Kuznetzov and some Su-33s parked behind, the size contrast is amazing, making you wonder why did the Russians chose that huge crane to go shipboard instead of the little swallow.

Range and fire-power. Su-33 was meant to go after F-14 rather than being a "battlefield" or stay at home interceptor. It was conceived as an offensive weapon sweeping the skies of enemy fighter cover over a deep blue ocean so that Tu-22M3 or Tu-95 will be free to launch their anti-shipping missiles from safe distances.
