Rockin' Su-27s

If I wasn’t particularly sold on Witty Wings warbirds ... I am now.

Let me tell you: Witty’s new Chinese Su-27s are absolutely the bee’s knees. For accuracy, paint and insignia application, camo color accuracy – the works – these models are positively stunning!

Not to mention the armament: I count ... hold your breath ... 10 missiles. Ten, mind you! This jet rocks!!!!

Honestly, if you’re into modern Russian aircraft, Witty's Su-27s are bonafide must-haves. And don’t wait too long to buy one: chances are when collectors discover these masterpieces, they’ll snap them up – pronto.

I hear you Gort -- I've just received the Ukranian Su-27 and I must say it's making my beloved Gaincorp Flankers look a bit crude in comparision, it's all about the subtle panel lines and incrediblly smooth paint job.... I'm trying to stay away from the new schemes you are talking about. We'll see how succesfull I can be

Re: Rockin' Su-27s

The Chinese and Ukranian Su-27's look fabulous but I'm holding out until they offer a Russian Knights paint scheme.

Re: Rockin' Su-27s

There are so many Russian paint schemes for this plane...
There are so many variants as well...

I wonder if we'll get the variants in the future or just the same mould painted in the colors of those variants. Actually, the nose on the Witty Su-27 looks very accurate for an Su-35... and I still complain about the shape of the canopy: it's missing the Flanker look.

Re: Rockin' Su-27s

For those of you who have an SU-27, is the front compressor of the engine modeled into the air intake? If not, how deep is the intake? Any front view pics of your model/s would be great!

Roger that! Although it's a bit hard to see since the FOD screen is partially retracted, but the detail is there most definitely.

Thanks for the reply! That is exciting to me. Excuse my ignorance, but clarify what the FOD screen is and how it relates to the intakes?

Can anyone post a pic looking into the air intake?

Re: Rockin' Su-27s

Excuse my ignorance, but clarify what the FOD screen is and how it relates to the intakes?

The FOD (Foreign Object Damage) screen prevents/protects any ground debris from being 'sucked in' the intakes during take offs (as well as during landing) of the aircraft. The FOD screen is pneumatically retractable and hinged at the bottom of each intake throat.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that the compressor section face of the engine on the Witty model is not readily visible at the end of the intake tunnel, so taking a picture of it may not yield a satisfactory image, in my humble opinion.
