Re: Rockin' Su-27s

The FOD (Foreign Object Damage) screen prevents/protects any ground debris from being 'sucked in' the intakes during take offs (as well as during landing) of the aircraft. The FOD screen is pneumatically retractable and hinged at the bottom of each intake throat.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that the compressor section face of the engine on the Witty model is not readily visible at the end of the intake tunnel, so taking a picture of it may not yield a satisfactory image, in my humble opinion.

Thank you. I think I have a better picture in my head now. I just hate it when manufacturers abruptly blank out the intake or narrow it to a point where it converges only 1/2" to 1" inside the intake. It appears, then, that Witty's SU-27 has a "realistic" looking interior intake? How about the new Witty F-16s?

You're welcome, Elmer. I don't have the Witty F-16 yet, but that may change soon enough. The IAF scheme sure looks pretty!
