Re: My latest acquisition

That's a Japanese "trading figure (sort of like sports trading cards)" boxed "toy", collectors never know which one they get because they're randomly packed and usually there's about 6 different versions (livery or mould) per collection. It is a 1/100 from Doyusha. Maybe some kind of assembly is required depending on the manufacturer. Here's one batch of them, but I don't see the one pictured above... this particular one seems to have been customised? 1/100 IJN Zero Fighter Type 21 Pearl Harbor 1 Box (12pcs)
Some even come with a pack of sweets or candies, therefore their other alias: "candy toys"...but the quality is amazingly good in some cases, for instance, I got a whole series of N-gauge "toy" buses (roughly 1/150) that were a lot cheaper than German railway models, and also way more detailed than those German-made expensive "models".
It's a hit and miss kind of thing, I remember purchasing some 1/200 F-4s and F-15s that were quite unremarkable (they're stored out of sight somewhere now).

I have that same one and really like it -- even though it has the speedbrake gaff. (edit: though I see now that is the Witty version, so it does not have the speedbrake issue, at least far as I know.)

Who made the Zero?

Its made by Doyusha. Scale is 1/100and its actually a pre painted plastic kit.Instructions are in Japanese so you've got to figure out when you assemble them. There are six models including one "mystery" which is shown in attached pic ( captured Zero Type 52 ). Models are packed in "blind box" so you can't see which models are in the box.

Those look neat. Thanks for the background on this.

There are several series and sorry it doesn't come with candies.Details and quality are good ( complete with panel lines and weathered paint ).Only the model shown here has weathered paint ( not customised ) Some even comes with a pilot; ground crew and oil barrel. Nicely done. Like B-huj says, its a hit and miss thing.

The picture of the one above shows nicely done weathering, and on such a small model too.
