Thumbs up Do Any Of You Feel Like I do?

Thanks to our esteemed fellow forum member "Biggie" I had the Witty F-18E/F Hornet waiting on my doorstep when I got home tonight. I was very surprised at how much metal the model contained and it's heft. I love all the moving rudders and stabilizers. The wheels roll and the canopy opens and the model has very very few discernable warts. The fit and finish and markings are right on.

I am only intersted in hearing from the owners of a Witty F-18 Hornet model please. Do any of you like your model and would not think twice if given a choice to buy again?

I am ecstatic to put it on my shelf next to my Witty F-16 and F-15.

I now have at least one example of each of these
F-14,F-15,F-16,F-18,SU-27,SU-34,F-117,Mig 21,F-104,F-86,Tornado,Goshawk,A-10,A-4,A6 and an A-7.

Witty while not being perfect rates right up there with my top 3 next to CW and HM for moderns.

So again, do you feel like I do and do you have any pics to illustrate your appreciation?

I like my Kestrels Superbug quite much since I had a lucky hand while adding a more realistic armament.

I have that exact one. Could you give any info about the color of the missiles and where I can get the right paint thanks.

Louie, I went bonkers over my first Witty Super Hornet a year ago. Its realism and exquisiteness caught me so flatfooted, I purchased a boatload more. Now I own a squadron of ‘em and couldn’t be happier.

The boxes they come in, on the other hand, are an entirely different matter.

Hey Gort -- I'd think you like the boxes as you can see the model quite well in 'em... or are you taking your models out of the boxes now?

I like all of the Witty jets, except for the Tomcat which we don't need to go into (though for $20... how much can one complain?).

I have the following Witty Hornet and like it, though I do prefer Dragon's mostly due to the fact that it has the up/down gear options... and I think it has slightly more detail. I can forgive the speedbrake error on the D-back issue shown below.

My Dragon (I also have a Dragon Chippy Ho legacy Hornett...)

Yes, it's a "showbird" but mine is loaded for bear... looks cooler!

Love the idea—actually, I’m thrilled with the idea, Pappy—that they put windows on the their boxes front and back. Since I rarely remove my models from their boxes, this is one HUGE advantage. But the flimsy, papery quality of these cardboard monstrosities leave me cold: they buckle and convolute and look a sorry mess---even when I protect them from extremes in temperature and humidity. Even Gaincorp settled on a stronger cardboard.

Witty makes a fantastic F-18, but they could use a lotta help in the box department.

By the way, ain’t that VFA-14 Superbug beeeeyouteeful! Ah, man...I can’t get enough. If I didn’t already own the thing, I’d order it right now. It’s that good.

You must really not like HM boxes then... they are probably the worst. I'd pay a couple extra dollars for some better stock cardboard, myself.

Re: Do Any Of You Feel Like I do?

Man those pics of the Tophatters F-18 are nice!
That scheme was my first choice but the price on the Kestrels was too good to pass up.
I have only 1 issue with the Hornet....
The heavy metal rear horizontal stabilizers sag they refuse to stay level so I had to white glue them in the horizontal position.
Have any of you had this issue or did I just get the one in a thousand one.
Dragon does look good I just appreciate the Witty for it's rock hard landing gear and rolling wheels. I think Dw has much better paint schemes.
I was not sure if Witty was going to survive for a time but it appears Witty is in the ring and not ready to quit just yet with some great looking planes. I eagerly await more schemes and that sinister Mig 29.

Re: Do Any Of You Feel Like I do?

If you display it as parked, the horizontal stabilizers sag a bit anyway. (But not as bad as yours probably do. I understand though, my one F-14 and one F-15 have the same problem.)
