The F-15's fan blades spin!

Did everyone but me know about this? I just found out today, when I was blowing on my red JASDF one to dust it off--I heard a spinning noise, and eventually tracked it down to the fact that if you blow air down the intakes, the compressor fans spin!

Thumbs up Re: The F-15's fan blades spin!

I checked my JASDF F-15 and lo and behold it spun! This detail re-enforced my like for some of the Witty jets. A nice detail not found on more popular and expensive brands!

I've just got this mental image of you guys sitting around wide-eyed, blowing furiously into your intakes....just try not to hyperventilate, fellas - you could pass out and drop your jets on the floor...then you'd have all kinds of free-moving parts.

Now if instead of investing in that gimmick, they (Witty) could have gotten the shape of the aircraft (canopy area) right, then I'd be really impressed.

actually, its probably more economical from their point of view if they had to choose. They'd save on glue! Props I can understand blwoing and watching them spin. But compressor blades in an intake that no one else sees......where does the uselessness stop??

Oh, I make sure that everyone that sees my models, sees the compressor blades!

Re: The F-15's fan blades spin!

They painted the inside of the engine nozzles white! Why'd they do that?
