| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings My only F-15 and F-16 are Witty owing to space. I'm not an expert on 'fast movers' and they look and feel great to me. A lot more solid and durable than the Dragons I replaced them with IMHO. As mentioned earlier their Zero and Sea Fury are excellent. I had several Spitfires but moved them on when the Geminis arrived. I noticed a curious thing with a new MkVb Witty Spitfire in early 1942 colours; it has a four bladed prop. Can any one advise? | |||||||||||||

| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings
The only photos I have come across that have a Mk Vb airframe with a four bladed prop, would be the float plane variant. I thought the Mk VI was the first one to swing a four bladed prop,. but I could be wrong.

| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings I saw some what I thought were pre-production shots of the MKV and it was indeed wearing a 4 bladed prop which is incorrect. I thought the desert release was a MKIX though? | |||||||||||||

| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings
I'm reliably informed by a senior BBMF engineer friend of mine that the last of the Mk V builds did have a four bladed prop. Now I must say that I've never seen a picture of one (but haven't put any effort into looking for one either!) but there were all sorts of oddities that many probably still don't know about, so I wouldn't dismiss it.

True, indeed BBMF's MKV has a four blader, however looking at the MKV scheme it's a early MKV Can't remember the squadron but same as BM597.... I'm guessing its just the pre-pro???

| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings
I have been having a rummage through my stuff and all I could find was a reference to a 4 blader trail done to test performance at higher altitudes, idea was to try to give a bit more bite at the thinner air at 30,000 feet when up against the then new FW190s. This in turn led onto the MKV11. Strange because I have a shedfull of books on the Spit but so far thats all I can come up with.

| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings
As you may know by now, I love the Zero. I always thought Dragon's was the best in 1/72 scale. Is Witty's really better? I haven't seen it yet.
