| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings
From previous discussions on the forum, it seems to be a matter of taste. Personally, I like Matchbox, Witty, and Corgi in that order. Below are one of each and a Dragon.

My Zero preferences would be Dragon/ Witty/ Corgi, then Matchbox in 1/72 scale.. Witty's only real drawback, and the reason I put them second is their simple canopy, if the canopy were more detailed, Witty would be #1.. (and the lack of gear-up option, but that is not that important) ![]()

| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings That was some smart buying there Biggie - my Wittys are a gaggle of Sea Furys, a couple of F-16's and a couple of F-15's. Oh and one F/A-18F Super Hornet. Their Spits and P-51's don;t quite spin my wheels but pleased to hear they are re-jigging their Spit mold. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: not so picky and love my Witty Wings
I just picked up a Witty A6M5 to see for myself. IMHO, both Witty and Dragon Zeros have pluses and minuses and they end up even. WItty's mould is crisp, but the panel lines are tough to pick out under dark paint. Dragon's Zero has the opposite problem: horrible, uneven panel line inking. Witty scores on this point. On the other hand, Witty's cockpit has no detail and -- this is my biggest gripe with the Witty Zero -- there's no engine. Peer past the props into the cowling and there's nothing there. I like to see cylinders. Dragon, hands down. But Witty's undercarriage, albeit fixed, is better than Dragon's. For me, at least, they break even.

Panel lines (or lack of) on the Witty birds is the one thing that always appealed to me.. In reality, if you took a 1/1 scale plane and shrunk it to 1/72 scale, panel lines would be non existant.. If you took a 1/72 Corgi/HM/ Dragon or other and enlarged it to 1/1 scale, you could probably stick your fist between the panels.. The engine (or lack of) is a mute point for me since the spinner hides 90% of it, now if it were a Hellcat or Kate with no spinner, it would probably be an issue.. The landing gear is superior on the Wiity, but as I had noted, I don't care too much for the fixed only option...
