Hi,

I have read the many comments on the various Witty Wings F-104's. Mostly less than favorable, my sense is that most collectors would rate it an OK model, but certainly not spectacular. Witty Wings has recently released an NASA version of the F-104. Has Witty Wings upgraded any of the deficiencies on this aircraft ??? Has anyone actually seen this latest release ?? and if so, would you kindly share your opinions. I collect NASA aircraft and I already have the Matchbox version NASA F-104 which is more toy like, and why I'm most interested in the Witty Wings version. It me a case of, it's the only option so I should consider getting it. Thanks in advance.

I would just wait for the Hobby Master's purported release of it's own F-104 in NASA scheme....if it ever gets released?!?!

There is a thread in the Hobby Master section that covers this. If I recall correctly, Hawk received word from HM it is still a go with no release date set yet.

Just an update. Since it seems the consensus is that HM may never release the NASA F-104, I ordered the Witty Wings NASA F-104. In all honesty it looks quite nice and I'm quite pleased with the model. My opinion only as I'm very new diecast aircraft collector, although I have amassed quite a few 1/72 models. Perhaps as my experience increases I may see any shortcomings. But I feel it is a nice model, much more so than the Matchbox NASA F-104, especially since the Witty Wings model has landing gear and I do plan on displaying in an on-the-ramp setting. Thanks for all the input.

Well,

I picked one up. What the heck I thought. Upon close inspection, there were a couple of small white dots near the right wing root, where the darker blue paint is. I thought it is a couple of flakes packing material, so I rubbed it with my finger. Well, bad idea, more white appeared, blue paint was coming off.

Skip this model.

I am thinking about contacting Witty to see if I can get a replacement.
