| Why ??? Why is Witty do another F/A-18F VFA-103 Jolly Rogers exactly the same as Dragon's ??? With the AA Tailcode and 103 Modex Showbird....they're killing me....Ever heard of current events...how about a line bird or if it must be high vis, one from the recent Combat Cruise or how about the dark tailed line birds. Copy after copy after copy....that being said, of course I will buy it. Merry Christmas !! Ed | |||||||||||||

| Re: Why ??? Exactly. The Jolly Rogers didn't even fly with an "AA" coded ones. Their first cruise were "AG". AA was only for airshows when VFA-106 owned the planes. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Why ??? Its the same with the VFA-213....Dragon and Witty both did the delivery scheme which never really flew with the squadron.....Just a little more work and these could be so much better. Ed | |||||||||||||

| Re: Why ???
Well, at the time of their transition and the shows, VF-103 was still AA at the time

| Re: Why ??? Are you sure? I thought they switched to AG almost immediately upon actually finalizing the transition. AFAIK the AA codes were only for the ones that were being "held" by VFA-106 while 103 was getting ready and initial transition. More of a holdover from the F-14's than an actual wing assignment. But I didn't follow them TOO closely in the period between "VFA-106 doing airshows with their planes, and actually going out to sea". | |||||||||||||

| Re: Why ???
Sorry, I meant when their tomcats were making their final landings, the Super Hornet/s that were waiting for them had the AA letter coding I think. Though I've only seen photos of the high-vis 'AA' ones to be honest.

| Re: Why ??? Is this a single seater Hornet? If so I'm in. I would like to have 2 types of JR birds to display. Is there a website where I can see this bird in detail? I pass on Dragon because I hate fiddly's and prefer gear down anyway for my moderns. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Why ???
Some USN units use E models, and others F models, not a mix like in the olden days of the F/A-18C/D (I still haven't worked out why that was neccessary). The Jolly Rogers are requipped with the F/A-18F version, would look good with an F-14 though!
