Re: more new schemes

Ill never understand why witty cant get their weapons together. The accuray and the coloration are horrible. not to mention every super hornets weapons are exactly the same...

Re: more new schemes

I gotta hand it to Witty for the diverse schemes and liveries, however their F-104 doesn't leave much to be desired in terms of acccuracy. That "Blue Impulse" and NASA schemes are really nice, though!

Re: more new schemes

Never mind the Super Hornet weapon options (half of which are wrong), they're still painting them all white! Arrgh! The F-15's have grey, why can't they get it through their heads that all missiles are grey now, and have been for nearly 20 years?

I would like a Pukin' Dogs Super Hornet, but unless they changed the mold it won't be right for their planes. You pretty much have to build it yourself to get an accurate model of a Super Hornet from Bu no. 166660 and later.

I'd love a NASA F-104, but I want it on HM's mold.

PS--they're copying Dragon in doing the short-lived, not-in-service-with-VFA-103 scheme. The least they could do is paint it up like VFA-103 actually flew them for the past year or so, they've had more than enough time.

It's pretty clear Witty does no research at all, and just copies from model kit box art, decals, etc. (Since nearly every error they commit is exactly the same as some other kit's error)

Re: more new schemes

the starfighter isnt a bad model from what i have seen, main fault is the canopy which is way off and the rrp compared to HM. must try and find a cheap one to see if a HM/model kit canopy will improve it.
one area it does score points on is the nose/pitot area. HM please take note and i know hawk has asked them to change it.
the f-14's i would never buy after getting the first release[its a dreadful casting]
the superbugs are pretty good and look like the hasegawa kit?let down by poor weapons colours and loadouts.

Re: more new schemes

Witty Super Hornets are DEFINITELY Hasegawa copies, which is why they have such good molding shape/detail overall. Strange that Dragon's aren't.

Re: more new schemes

VFA-103 recent combat cruise marking with the dark grey tails would have been sharp...or even the post cruise lo-viz line jets would be better than the recycled show bird already done to death.

Re: more new schemes

Aircraft are relatively new to my collection.....I have been collecting diecast emergency vehicles for years....There is a quite a market for custom and kitbashed models..Question - would a "blank" well made Super Hornet or Tomcat sell ??? Many diecast companies produce "blank" cars for customizing .....There are plenty of aircraft decals out there and people could make the jet that they prefer.......There is also a method of removing the diecast tampos with non-acetone nail polish remover and redo-ing your own decals.....The VFA-103 may get that treatment to convert to a proper "AG" 200 CAG Bird with all the new markings....Battle "E" , Safety "S" and of course MUTHA.

I think a well made blank jet would sell - thoughts ??

Possibly, but I've come to really appreciate tampo-printing. You wouldn't want to decal a model without overspraying it with some form of clearcoat to blend the carrier film in and to prevent decal deterioration....or eventually it's going to end up looking crappy - guaranteed.....and I just don't know how many collectors are willing to do that.
