Re: Uzbek Su-27 - going ... going ... gone!

Excuse me, but could anyone clarify the reason for the 'hype' - this bird doesn't appear to be all that 'special'?

Getting caught up in hype... reaching for credit card... trying to resist... effort may be futile (but I'm not finding it hard to find it online.. Does Gort really work for Witty... hmmm... Nah, he got me to order a Gaincorp Sukhoi on MH I in the same fashion. It's not going to work again Mr. Gort... No SIr! Oh, who am I kidding.... )

(Note to boss: Your stratagem worked, Sir. I hyped the livin’ heck out of your latest Su-27 and persuaded a whole bunch of ninnies to order them. Your sparse-release ruse is working like a champ, too. Heh-heh-heh, they’ll never know this was all a sham. Ummm ... but a couple of guys are getting wise. I’d better lie low for a while. Out. Gort. P.S. Make that check out to “cash.”)

Hey, that brings up another issue ...

For whatever reasons, the boxes of these ‘27s are, shall we say, less than perfect. Or that’s the word, anyway. Dings, bruises, sandpapered see-thru panels, boo-boos. You name it.

If and when you guys get your Uzbeks, give me a holler and tell me how yours arrived. The boxes, I mean.

The boxes, on the ones I received for the store, were not absolutely perfect but arrived in pretty good shape nonetheless. However, 2/3rds of the Uz Su-27s had various parts that weren't glued on. Easy enough to fix but I'd rather not have to perform final assembly and quality control on Witty's birds. These were some of the common loose parts... radome, windscreen, front bay door & rear landing gear strut.

Other than that, the paint scheme looks much better in person than in pics. You won't be dissapointed if you've ordered one. Just make sure you've got some CA on hand to glue on loose parts.

This seems to be a common theme among Witty's diecasts - loose unglued components! I had two that I received so far with one-half of the stabalizer loose on the Spitfire and Sea Fury. Not a problem with me as I'm handy with superglue apps, but something Witty needs to address as a 'quality issue' on their production line for sure.
