FW-190A-8's

Hi all,
i'm not a guru on the Fw-190, but did the A-8 manage to carry bombs like that on Witty's FW-190A-8's? I thought the Fw-190F-8's were the ones configured to carry that many bombs

Cool Re: FW-190A-8's

You are absolutely right. And if you noticed, witty's "A8" has a F8 bubble canopy too...!

It seems Witty's so called "A8", is actually a fictionnal combination of both versions : 4 wing mounted MG151 + Bombs + Bubble canopy.

any other pics that would be more identifying?
I think the F-8 was very similar to the A-8 if u look from that point of view. i thought it was the load out that was mainly the difference

Not unless it's in 1/48th! This is one warbird begging to be done in glorious 48th scale.

You're correct, sir!

The Histoire & Collections Fw-190, pg. 44.. shows an example of an A8 'Red 3' "Edelweiss" Kampfgeschwader 51 code '9K' on the fuselage was to convert to the Me-262 jet fighter. The Anton A8 fitted with the rounded canopy and found at Bad Aibling in May 1945 was assigned as squadron protection unit for the jets.

The A8/U11 could carry one 550lb bomb or four 110lb bombs if thats any help?

I believe that the picture you posted is a FW-190A-7, not an A-8 model as depicted by Witty. One of the easiest ways to distinguish the A-8 series from its predecessors, aside from the bulging gun housings on top of the engine ( the A-7s had these also ) is the location of the pitot head on the wings. All FW-190s through models 1-7, had it as shown in your picture ( approximately mid-wing ) . The A-8s , however, moved the pitot head to the wingtip, which seems to be the way Witty did it.
