Re: Witty P-38 "Dragon Tail"

I just got a email from a buddy of mine who got his P-38 today and said it was so-so......Your not going to like the turbo chargers on this one.
He also said that MB and Corgi's P-38's were a better.

Re: Witty P-38 "Dragon Tail"

I finally got my Witty Dragon Tail P-38 and I must say that this one is a reflection on the quality one usually associates with this line. The olive drab upper surfaces don't look as off as the promotional pictures indicated, but aside from this the model is a huge disappointment. The most obvious flaws are the superchargers and attendant ducts, exhausts, etc. These are one-piece plastic snap-ons and really look it. As has been mentioned already, the natural metal undersurfaces are wrong-should be neutral gray- and there is virtually no stenciling, the landing light on the left wing isn't even painted silver or some other appropriate shade and on it goes. I hope that this is a temporary hiccup and not an omen of things to come from Witty.

Probably a moot point, but did you get yours for a good price, though?

Nope. I paid $34.99 for this one which is now in storage.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Epapazian. I almost went against my better judgement and was so close to ordering this model, but something told me to wait. Glad I did as I now see that my extremely low opinion of Witty products still stands. At this point I'm thankful for any consistency in my life and it's nice to know that Witty won't let me down.

Lose the rockets...looks toy'ish.

Aren't all of the die-casts and armor 'toys' anyway? But we love 'em and I am probably like most on here...over 100 armor and 250+ aircraft...and still grownin'!

Re: Witty P-38 "Dragon Tail"

Well, I have the feeling that Witty is going down on details and overall quality. their F-14s are a joke, their other modern jets are missing stencil details and look very naked, they now even leave ordnance blank, with a base coat of dull grey! I hope they don't go on like this, because I remember their first release, the LN F-15, the missiles had printed details back then!!
