| Mig-29 The pictures of the Witty MIG-29 are up on Witty website. The first model is a two-seater. Looking forward to the release of the more common single seater. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Mig-29 I just saw the pictures of the MiG-29 UB dual seater and I must honestly say I'm a bit disappointed on this one. Model seems to lack the correct shape (nose radome, canopy), twin vertical tail is wrong for this variant etc., that would make this diecast to be a passable two-seat variant. I maybe 'jumping the gun' in criticizing this model but there's something about it that just don't look right to me. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Mig-29
this particular livery is not very attractive to me, it seems witty keeps betting on one-offs and colourful stuff that's supposed to sell more units. That tiger, the relatively "unfinished" paintwork and thick moving parts make it look more toyish than their earliest F-15. Nevertheless, the cockpit shape is surprisingly more accurate than I expected from Witty.I would suggest they make finer window railings (frames), that's easily solved by changing the mask, no moulding or retooling required. I would also prefer a single seater model, but since so many diecast models are based on Tamiya or Hasegawa plastic kits, I am a bit weary, the Corgi sample pictures show a flat cockpit canopy, very much like a cheap tamiya kit.

| Re: Mig-29 I'll be getting them, but the criticisms are well deserved. As a diecast collector, you just have to get accustomed to manufacturers that don't do their homework and really just don't try very hard to be accurate. They only produce models that look "good enough" to sell. It would not have been difficult for them to remove the chaff/flare dispenser extensions, from the the vertical stabilizers, but they just don't know enough about the plane to know any better. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Mig-29
You're right on the money! It's also probably the only two-seater variant we will ever get of the MiG-29 UB in this scale and for Witty to really mess up the accuracy of that particular variant is unacceptable. C'est la vie....

| Re: Mig-29 Yeah, the tailfins were something I also noticed...no MiG-29UB I've seen have those extended tailfins... My complain to Witty is that they are getting too comfortable with massive runs of each model, colourful liveries and increasingly poor research with every release. Their different variants of the Tomcat illustrate the case. I am not expecting these guys to correct the mistakes on the MiG-29 before it hits the stores, and as I said, I didn't see Corgi doing a great job with those early samples either, it is my hope they do correct that prior to release. | |||||||||||||
