Re: Mig-29

Yeah, it's off a little bit but there are so many different versions of Mig 29 family with modifications.. But, how many Mig-29's do you see in diecast? If the price isn't too bad this could be a player.. Now when is somebody other than Gaincorp gonna do F/A-22's???

Re: Mig-29

Yeah, I'm not impressed.

But then I wasn't impressed with their F-15s and Su-27s either, so... But their F-16s prove they can do better when they want to (or maybe they just lucked out in that case).

Re: Mig-29

As u point out, their most attractive offer so far in terms of jet aircraft is the F-16, but let's not forget the ammount of details and dedication they have packed in the F-15.
I am sure they could do a better job, but unfortunately models are getting sloppier with each release...the paintwork seems unfinished in most F-14s, and this MiG-29UB also looks like a half-done job. I can't believe I am saying this but it would be a good idea if they tried to emulate Dragon Warbirds, they do paint their models.
I remember so long ago, I used to laugh about the placards on the F-18s (DANGIE AYVESTING HOOK and stuff like that) on Witty models, now most releases don't even have these tiny details.

Re: Mig-29

I find Witty F-15's to be better than their F-16's. The canopy shape is the only issue AFAIK. Their F-16's suffer the exact same problems as Dragon's----impossible combinations of airframe options all throughout. They're often "F-16AC Block 2542" combined. PW engines with MCID intakes. Having both the earliest and latest antenna configurations simultaneously, Etc. (And there's not many antennas to deal with on the F-16 generally, and very few configurations---the same one would do nicely for the entire USAF block 30 through 52) I have the Dragon Wolfpack F-16, as it's about the most accurate F-16C out there. But none are right, very similar problem to most Witty/Dragon F-14's----a mix of parts from different versions.

Re: Mig-29

Talking about Witty's F-16 (although this thread was supposed to be about the Fulcrum), how do you find the Dirty Diana release?
I heard it was supposed to be an early A model, but don't recall Witty having the parts to make that mould...David, any opinions?

Re: Mig-29

seems they have a single seater version on their website now

Witty Industrial Co., Ltd.

MIG-29 Russian Russian AF Guards Aviapolk Kubinka 1989
WTW-72-019-005

doesn't seem toylike like the pics of the two seater, maybe there is hope after all

In my eyes, that single seater does not only look "not toylike", it looks great. Now give me that thing wearing a German JG 73 livery WITHOUT any "MiG-29 Farewell Tour" markings, and I´ll pick it up immediately.

Nope, the single seater looks promising, but I am not sure if they should keep the tailfin extensions for the flares on this one either! I am neither 100% sure the cockpit shape is spot-on, but that's a classic Witty problem.
the livery looks much more standard/operational than that silly tiger thing on their first release. It is a firm belief of many manufacturers and especially Witty that a colorful livery will sell better. I am not a retailer but that may be true...in any case, I prefer the dull-painted everyday workhorse.
By the way, the double seater does not look that terrible in person, I mean the model, not the livery. If they come up with another livery I may take a copy to compliment the single seater which I will certainly buy.

I agree about everyday schemes. I've been thinking of giving the single seat version of the Witty 29 a try, along with a workaday SU-27 for comparison. Might make an interesting display. The differences in the design appproach of Sukhoi and Mikoyan with these designs is most interesting...
