Re: New Witty F-14 Stands

Great stands! Now Gaincorp need to follow up and give us stands for their jet fighters

Su-27: I use witty stands, they perfectly fit, just be careful with the tailhook still found on some 27s.
Su-33: exactly the same rear end, use witty.
F-15: use Witty stands, they should fit
That probably only leaves us with the Su-47 and earliest Su-34 without a stand? now looking at the gigantic tail boom on the Su-24, I don't think the witty approach would make any sense.

Oh, witty stands are metal, but the part where they clamp or hold the model is usually if not always plastic, that is to prevent paint scratch and damage to the model (Try holding your model with a plier!)

I Have never tried that....So your saying the Su-27 stand that Witty makes can fit the Su-27 and Su33 perfectly ?
I have a Gaincorp Su27 boxed up...Now all i need is the Witty Su-27 stand.

Re: New Witty F-14 Stands

I saw the individual stands for sale at my local hobby store. They had F-15, F-16, F-18. Does anyone know if these are compatable with Dragon planes? Has anyone tried it?

I am specifically interested in the F-15 and F-16 stands.

Re: New Witty F-14 Stands

Well, I am sure about Su-27's and 33s because those Gaincorps have the same rear end and are very close to Witty's. Same case with most Dragon F-15s.

I am not 100% sure about the F-16s though, seems Witty has a larger exhaust than Dragons. I don't even own a Witty F-16 so far so I cannot test that...and would not want to buy a stand for such an experiment. Those who do have one please do the test!

Gaincorp 27's and 33's are fine, tested and confirmed!!!!

Re: New Witty F-14 Stands

Hey, has anyone confirmed that these stands work with the new Century tomcats? I figure they'd be a heck of a lot more impressive on a Witty stand than what we were given, no?

Re: New Witty F-14 Stands

The stand is so tightly clamed to the model. If I want to display the model without the stand, how do I get the plane out?

Re: New Witty F-14 Stands

You know i did try this today since i forgot about this thread i started a while back.
It does not work very well with the Dragon Tomcat due to being a little thicker on the model as for Century i'm not going to try it....Century F-14's feel a little heavy to Witty's F-14's.
I did test it on my FOV F-14 which is just the same as Century and it made me nervous so i took it off before it could of fall off.
One thing i did notice the stand has a snap like feeling with the Witty F-14 and when i tried to use a Dragon one it did not have that feeling...it would slide off the side due to the weight.
It's risky if you try to use this on a heavy F-14 IMHO.

Re: New Witty F-14 Stands

Not all models are engineered the same way, maybe Witty does take their stand into consideration when designing the parts, so they are capable of dealing with the weight of the entire model clamped from the rear...and maybe other manufacturer's exhaust cones are not exactly the same diameter or thickness...I actually prefer my planes parked so I don't mind witty's landing gear being fixed and the stands sold separately.

I've got a Dragon f-15 sitting in my WItty F-15 stand right now, it works perfectly.... was going to try the same with a Dragon f-18 in a Witty F-18 stand later (just got my first few witty jets)

I LOVE the witty stands, though the extended gear config takes a lot away from the look to me, so I park my wittys and hope to use the stands for the dragon counterparts...
