Re: Raptor Watch

Two of the 'demo' pilots have posted on some other aviation forums, and one of the things I remember, is that at last years Atlantic City Airshow, the F-22 was put in a holding pattern behind the showline. Well...while he was there, he started doing some little manuevers, basically what seemed to be stopping the plane on a dime, standing on it's tail, etc......I felt bad for the F-16 demo pilot because everyone was facing backwards to him, watching the Raptor. He finally got cleared in and did a few passes and maneuvers before joining up for the heritage flight, but the interesting thing was afterwards, the pilot, Capt. Dozer, posted that he actually got in a little trouble for what he was doing back there. He also mentioned that for what the public has seen so far, well...."We ain't see nothing yet!"

Re: Raptor Watch

The Raptor demo team was at Hill last summer, and their performance was eye watering. If that wasn't an approved routine, I can hardly wait until I can see one that is.

Well, it was approved no doubt, but it wasn't a full airshow demo. The official demo team is stood up and practicing right now, but will not officially hit the airshow road with their full routine until sometime in Fiscal Year 08, which starts 1 Oct 2007. My understanding is that the maneuvers you'll see then will be much more complex and astonishing. We'll see...
