Re: A-10 Video

Excellent tributes to this oft-maligned (particularly until Desert Storm), but fantastic aircraft.

I've never flown the A-10 but did control some in combat (as a Forward Air Controller in Desert Storm), and many times in peacetime training. The A-10 does the job far better than any other aircraft in the Close Air Support role (and I've controlled F-16s, Mirages of all sorts, Harriers from both USMC and RAF, F-18s, Jaguars, Tornados...). I don't think even the Su-25 can touch it (though I don't have personal experience with that)...

It also excels in the SANDY (Combat Search and Rescue Escort) role, much as the A-1 Skyraider did during Vietnam.

FVD

I watched the vid again was amazed at the roll rate of that bird, is it really that good or is it just a trick of the camera.
It seems amazing for such a big bird with that wing form.

God Bless America.

Re: A-10 Video

I second this thread with a close A-10 take-off...

I think I read this was from Afghanastan, it was a member of the squadron that taped them taking off.

Re: A-10 Video

Very cool videos, all of them.......but.....sometimes you don't need any music to enjoy the sweet sounds of the A-10. Here's a few video clips from my Warren Grove Range visit....I'm gonna put together a video, but here's a few unedited clips to enjoy!
