| Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made Since it would seem easier to do a ground campaign, how about the largest tank vs. tank battle: KURSK!! Many decades later, the Soviets did not release the number of tanks, artillery pieces, and aircraft lost, and, more importantly, the enormous losses in troops that they actually incurred. Some of my sources put the Soviet losses at close to 400,000. ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made Very good choices. My vote goes for the Yamamoto Shoot Down. I know it's still very controversial after all these years. With that being said, that was one hell of a mission those guys pulled off, and IMO, deserves an equally good movie. | |||||||||||||

| Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made Battle of Kursk would be good, as would a modern version of the hunt for the Bismark (imagine what CGI could do for this, especially the fight against HMS Hood, maybe a second film on the Tirpitz). A film on the Graf Spee and her scuttling would be excellent as well. Just my thoughts. | |||||||||||||

| Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made That's a good question. Some WWII movie suggestions I would like to see made that hasn't been made yet would be: 1) The exploits Adolf Galland's infamous unit: JV44 "Squadron of Experts"...I hope this one like the new German film "Der Rote Baron" (The Red Baron) should be made by a German film company as well. Just thinking of those privately owned and built Me 262s flying in that film would bring tears to my eyes. 2) How about a film documentary of the 8th Army Air Forces top 3 fighter groups of WWII: 4th, 56th and the 352nd. With todays use of 'state of the art' hi-tech CGI effects, many of those documented gun camera footages of those raging dogfights would be keenly enhanced with this technology to make for a very exciting and entertaining film to watch. Movies that have been made that needs to be 'remade' imho, are: God Is My Copilot The Flying Tigers | |||||||||||||

I'd throw Midway into this category, too!

| Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made
Yeah, that one too! But I would keep the original footages for the Dauntlesses and Wildcats scenes, and eliminate those incongruent scenes like a Panther jet crashing/burning on the deck when Heston's was trying to land his divebomber on that scene! LOL

| Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made Come to think of it, I'd also like to see something dealing with the Black Cat Raiders; and the anti-sub ops in the South Atlantic. And a good PT boat-centered movie (not a remake of PT-109 or McHale's Navy!) | |||||||||||||
