Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made

Well, if IHW ever did get remade, as long as Matt Damon and Ben Afflick weren't in it, I'd be happy.

Yeah and what's his name, married to the one with the permanent pout? Angie Jolie

Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made

A bit off topic, just watched a local news report outlining the radiation danger from warbird instruments.
The CHW say they are not worried but they have limited access to visitors getting close to warbird interiors.
They counter that an old style watch has more radium potential than their airplanes.
Is nothing sacred from researchers?

Brad Pitt? Yeah, he's another one the film could do without. And no Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Will Smith or any of those other scientology cult members, either!

Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made

The Battle of Taranto might make for an interesting flick. No flashy planes, just the old Stringbag.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

How about a movie about the 761st Tank Battalion? Plenty of Sherman action.

Re: WW2 movies that still need to be made

I'm stickin' with my Russian theme and this was critical to the Soviets' being victorious in the 'Great Patriotic War', but the battle for Moscow in November and December of 1941 would be an epic movie!! Concentrate on the Demanysk airlift when Ju-52's came to the rescue of Army Group Center and the 58 divisions sent by rail from Siberia and Kamchatka to repulse the final pincer movement on the Russian capital. This would make for an excellent movie if the Russians could make this movie happen!!

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

The Soviets did plenty of WWII movies. Some of them were quite good with astounding production values like a 4-hour epic titled "Battle for Moscow" (not to be confused with similarly titled ala Battle 360 underwhelming documentary easily found in the US):

Because the movie was made in 1985, at a time of glasnost, it tells the story like it was. Look up Bitva za Moskvu on youtube.

If you want something with high production values, but embellished interpretation of events check out the Liberation saga, which consists of five movies. It can be bought in the US here:
