WOW! What an airshow! Even a WW I Hanriot, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Duxford 07 Flying Legends pics, AWSOME!!!!

My Buddy came over from Germany for the show and took over 800 photos. At the weekend he is going to sit and edit out the best and then send them to my computor, so with any luck I will be able to post a few good photos for you gentlemen.

My Interesting journey home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lorraine an me stayed over in Cambridge to have a look around on Monday before coming home. It was a nice sunny day and we wandered around the University buildings soaking up the history.
Ok all good things come to an end and it was time to get onto the motorway and take the 4 hour journey home.

There I was at 20,000 feet when,,,, oh sorry wrong story , yes back to the motorway.
There I was trundling up the motorway at about 50 mph the top down and the wind in our hair when I noticed in the distance a large green truck with what looked like sand coming out of the bottom of the back door.
I wonder what he is carrying I said to Lorraine. He wont have much left by the time he reaches his destination.
The motorway was quite busy at the time and is only 2 lanes wide, (its one of the oldest main routes up through England).

The green truck then pulled across in front of us to overtake another truck going slow on the inside lane.

What the NO IT CANT BE Arrrgh splutter OH no on no I DONT BELIEVE IT .

The green truck and its cargo of what looked like sand coming from it was in fact a cattle truck and the strange stuff coming out back was .........

YOU guessed it, Cattle p.ss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now remember I said I had the top down, well the entire front of the car was covered in swirling clouds of cow pee and so was Lorraine and me, I couldnt drop back because of vehicles behind and I couldnt change lanes because the other lane was full of trucks.

I am a tall guy and the top of my head sticks up above the windscreen screen so I got full measure of this stuff all across my forehead through my hair and down my face and glasses.
Lorraine had buy this time dropped down in her set and was trying her best to escape the clouds of pee that swirled around us.

It is an interesting experience to be assailed by urine traveling at you at 50 mph to say the least.

I slowly managed to drop back and switch lanes but too late the damage was done, the stink was terrible. I said to Lorraine ,well darling I didnt expect to smell like this until I was at least ninety.

Lorraine bless her, immediately saw the funny side of all this and just convulsed with laughter. Well what else can you do? so we just sat there trundling up the motorway covered in cow pee and laughing ourselves silly.

Well I think we shall have to pull off the road and find somewhere to try to clean up some. AH BUT THE GODS HAD NOT FINISHED WITH JIM YET.

The next pull off was about 5 miles up the road, but before we could get there the heavens opened and down came torrential rain.
All the traffic slowed and the road was just like a river.
To put the top up on my car means you have to pull up and manually fix it so there we were stuck, top down a cloudburst going on and nowhere to go.
We attracted many strange looks from passing motorists.

On the plus side it washed all the cow pee away and the smell diminished somewhat.

As quick as it came the storm passed ,it only lasted for a few minutes.

I decided to press ahead and let the wind dry us and the car out. After about 50 miles of this we pulled into a rest area and tried to clean ourselves up some.

We then completed the journey home non the worse for our experience.

It could only happen to me.

God Bless America.

Absolutely "mind-blowing"! It is as if I died and gone to Cloud 9 heaven...Duxford must be the equivalent of Disneyland for us warbird aficionados! Thanks for the link, PP.

My brother the lucky b*****d was in the UK last weekend. He was at Duxford for the show, got in a visit to the RAFmuseum at Hendon, and finished off by going to the Genesis gig in London;some guys have all the luck (courtesy of the late, great Robert Palmer).
