Re: German U Boat

Yup, torpedoes and all...icluding the foaming sea water. Its about USD55 at my local store. It comes in set of 7 boxes. Its prepainted and pre assembled. Some parts are snap on.Its is based on a well known German U boat ( VII C ).

I like how you can see the different crew compartments and machinery. They chose the right U-boat, the Type VII, which set the standard for submarine warfare.

Looking forward to annoying the 'former' Florida Diecast Forum members!!

Re: German U Boat

Very nice pics Tedongganas Planning to get the Targa 1/48 Tiger I? You may wish to check out the Targa Tiger I photos I have recently posted in the Ground Vehicles Section.

Takara carries an awesome Japanese Aegis "sectional" warship in 1/700 scale. Just like the U-boat, it comes pre-built and pre-painted. Pretty decent interior details. Comes in 3 boxes. It sells for about US$20 in Singapore, but I have seen it on the tank zone website (UK retailer). It's been out for sometime now and maybe hard to find though.

Re: German U Boat

I find that the overall quality is ok except for the crews. If only they paint the crews like the King Tiger's then it would be great ! Unfortunately its painted in all green.

Those are awesome pics of the Tiger Paladin. I'll get the Tiger first then the Yamato and the Yahagi later.
I still think the price in US, UK and Japan is much cheaper then Singapore. The U Boat costs me about USD55 for 8 boxes( 1 complete set) whilst in one website in Japan it costs USD73.11 for 16 boxes ( 2 complete set) Same goes for the Yamato and most die cast or plastic models. But then againi if i calculate the shipping costs, its about the same as buying here. For those who resides in US or UK it is cheaper to buy from you local stores.Hey, therer is another brand called Furuta maybe you'd be interested in this Paladin !!??
I think it costs about USD17( 6 boxes ).I've checked with my local dealer and it costs about USD26 !! Oh dear......... these going to cost a lot of damages to my pockets

Re: German U Boat

Thanks for your compliments Tedongganas.

You're right about the more affordable prices in the US, Europe and Japan compared to Singapore. This is something that I often bemoan, not that I can do anything about it!

Furata's miniatures are indeed a prize find. My cousins are crazy over it. If it takes your fancy, better get hold of it soon. The funny thing about Japanese manufacturers is that they only do one or at most two production runs before switching to another line. That's the lesson that I learnt when I procrastinated too much over the earlier releases of Takara's World Tank Museum series.
