Re: Italeri 1/100 scale aircraft

I have purchased about a dozen of these planes and so far they are a mixed bag. Some are fine as is, but others feature badly placed and silvered insignias and other markings, lumps of rough metal and gashes marring the lower fuselage and wing surfaces, and in one case a smashed canopy that was held together with some form of crazy glue. So even though the basic molds are OK as to the amount of detail---in a few cases even better than the old Armour planes--- and the add-on weapons, fuel tanks, etc, are done fairly well, it's buyer beware on this line. So far I have five of these planes on display. I totally repainted the Mig-17, made extensive corrections on the F-80 and Mystere and minor ones on the Meteor and Israeli Mirage. I think that the best way to describe this line is this. The basic parts are fine, considering the mass production designs employed. However the models were assembled and detailed in such haste that there are numerous flaws purists such as myself cannot accept. If you are not into making sometimes extensive corrections, proceed with caution.

I used to see it on eBay, but not recently. I bought an Atlas version about three years ago via eBay, but once again, it's been a long time since one of these appeared in the listings.

Check out airspotters.com, which I believe is in the UK. It appears to be carrying the same line of reissues. Look under Italeri, 1:100.

Re: Italeri 1/100 scale aircraft

There is also an issue from I believe Atlas that are very similar to the Italeri models. Ive found an F4F Wildcat, a Macchi 202, a P39 , Curtis Hawk 75 and even a Brewter Buffalo. Problem is they are bloody hard to find , searching on Ebay.fr I've managed to scrounge a few, but they are tough to get hold of.

The plane moulds are identical to the Italeri planes , the decals are actually rub down transfers that are supplied with the model.

Anyone with more info on these models, please contact me

The Atlas series of fighters ( 1:100th scale ) and bombers ( 1:144th scale ) apparently date back to the late 1990s or early 2000s and were available from eBay sellers, though not recently. I bought a large number of these which range from crude to barely OK in quality. The fighters tend to have huge mounting holes on their undersides and are often dwarfed by their own stands, but I have transformed some of these as well as a number of bombers into worthwhile stopgaps until better product comes along. The assembly and insignias/ lettering/ numbers on the bombers, which come already applied, tend to be rather poor, and their landing gear---they want you to display the models "wheels-down"--- are a joke. Pulqui has posted complete lists of this series on another thread and can probably fill you in better than I about these models.

Re: Italeri 1/100 scale aircraft

I'm going to order the Italeri F9F in order to see how it compares to the Armour C.D.C. issues in the same scale. Considering the scale, Armour does good work. I'd like to see another manufacturer join in the fray. Sure as hell saves on shelf space.

I've seen a site online (notatoy?) that says these Italeri aircraft are made with the CDC molds? Anyone know if this is true?

I would love to see some pictures of them if you could upload a few.

Here's a group picture of my Atlas fighters, many of which are repainted and/or have new decals:
