Del Prado MC 202

This Del Prado MC 202 has some nice detail and I got it in 2003. A collector in Texas sent it to me, for this brand is not available in New York state.

Re: Del Prado MC 202

Are you sure it is a Del Prado? I have a few FABBRI, which have similar stands. Let me know.

Re: Del Prado MC 202

This MC-202 comes from the French collection "Avions de Combat" from Atlas. This series comprised a total of 72 models in 1:100th scale. Several were repaints and the total different castings are 52. This series came fully painted but the national and other markings came in the form of high quality self adhesive transfers.

There are two series from Fabbri as far as castings go. One that was released in Italy, Spain and France (the Italian version is currently on its third release, without changes to the models), and the one that was released in the UK and the US on a limited basis.

The castings for the first Fabbri release are basically the same as the ones from Atlas, with a different assembly method. The markings are generally different and some of the more unusual releases were not included, such as the Avenger, Buffalo, MC-202, Hien, Texan, Airacobra, Bearcat, Typhoon and Curtiss 75. There are several new castings on these releases such as the helicopters, F-18, F-117, MB-339 and AMX.

The castings for the UK and US releases are completely new although they are very similar to the earlier releases. The only one that is remarkable is the "razorback" P-51 that is not included in any of the earlier releases.

Re: fabbri P-51

I have a P-51B, Gentile's Shangri-La, that I have had for about two years.

It was my first B model, in olive drab.

I also have the Douglas Bader FABBRI Spitfire. Lucky.

That Spit is the only one within of all of these series to be released with a landing gear.
