Parcel Post question?

How long does it take for a typical 1/18 World War II fighter to arrive if shipped via US Parcel Post from California to Texas?

Re: Parcel Post question?

you can get a good idea via the USPS online postal calculator... ? I would say 5-7 biz days as a guess.

PAPPYB:

Thanks for the info.
The USPS calculator said 6 days for delivery. I ordered a 1/18 World War II fighter from a guy in California in July. The funds were debited from my checking account on July 28, so I assume he shipped the plane within 2 days. It hasn't arrived yet. I've never bought from him before, but he has a good reputation with others as a seller and the USPS does not, based on my experiences.

Re: Parcel Post question?

It can take up to 10 biz days ....I shipped a 1:18 once to Dallas from Calif and it took 10 days to get there...Slow and scary way to go.
I try to use Priority if it's a few bucks more that way you can have tracking and etc.

Yeah, with the USPS, it's neither rain or sleet or snow---just incompetence, so I'll wait a few more days before I contact the seller. I ordered a BBI 1/18 P-51 Cripes A Mighty---I want it really bad.
I've got a Century Wings F-14 VF-84 Jolly Rogers and an A-6 arriving via UPS tomorrow. I'd love to have Preddy's P-51 arrive, too.

Re: Parcel Post question?

7 days from MA to OK, and I've shipped two times for these results. Email the seller, see what he says.

ARA1:

Thanks for the info. To repeat the situation, I bought a 1/18 P-51 Mustang from a reputable seller who wanted payment by check. The check funds were debited from my checking account on July 28, Monday. I don't know when he shipped the P-51.
I would have contacted the seller last week, but when you're dealing with the US Postal Service, being late is almost the norm.
If it's not here by tomorrow, I'll contact him.

(PS---about 5 years ago I sent a family member a box about half the size of a 1/18 P-51 might ship in via parcel post from Houston to New York---about the same distance as my P-51 from California. The post office told me it would arrive in about one week---it took 19 days.

Yeah, I never, ever ship parcel post -- I did a holiday relief stint at the post office a few years back for some extra $ and it was..... enlightening. I have immense respect for the carriers but the PP stuff does get manhandled. I ship fedex ground or UPS ground instead for larger stuff. These take 7-10 days and have insurance and tracking included.
