shipping downunder

ok guys i'm after a little advice from the members from downunder, I haven't had much experience shipping models from the States to Aus was wondering if you can give me a heads up on what you have had to pay previously for postage on corgi heavies? Is it comparable to shipping from Europe to Aus? and have you had any problems with customs with parcels from the States?

Cheers

Wombat, I would suggest that you go to a reputable online retailer like The Flying Mule and open an account. You'll then be able to add items to your basket and take them partially through the 'checkout' process to see the airmail shipping costs before finalising any purchase - heavies should average approx. US$45. (The 'Mule's' international shipping rates are very reasonable .)

Welcome to the Forum wombat. Just shipped a 1:72 model Hurri to New Zealand, it's somewhat further than Aussie. The cost was $30+cents Cdn. Shipping by air with no tracing. A CORGI HEAVY would be just that. VERY HEAVY COIN. Bubble bursting, would you say.?

Bought two Lancs from Perry's last year, the combined shipping was ~$US90 to NSW. The package was signed for/insured.

You will not have any problem with Customs until the declared value exceeds $AU1000, although they do conduct random searches for weapons of mass destruction

You be surprised i've received a few models from uk and europe before and including postage its still cheaper then getting them from most local suppliers.....

Re: shipping downunder

Hi Wombat,

i've had dozens of boxes shipped to me in NZ over the past year since I started this expensive hobby!

I also bought G George & the Grand Slam Lanc from Perrys & Cardo's advice on the shipping calculator is worth considering.
Remember though that the Mule are in California & there are plenty of regular direct flights from LAX to NZ / AUS so they are a bit cheaper than Perrys etc.

Like you said there is no comparison to what our local retail stores charge so even with a big freight loading we come out on top. Feel free to drop me a PM if you want any tips on "downunder" friendly traders!!

Take it out and play with it
