Re: What's with Perry's?

My buddy bought a 1/72 Liberator from Perry's.
$35.00 shipping, $25.00 handling etc at post office.
This was about a month ago.

Re: What's with Perry's?

I found out that it will cost $26.00 to ship a 1/32 plane via USPS priority mail!!! When I checked UPS, it wasn't much different and the delay is 7 days vs 3 days for USPS..

Maybe it has to do with your zone .....

Thumbs up Re: What's with Perry's?

Do you guys have the same problem with Fed Ex too?
Since UPS is bad for you.
JP

Glad you raised that!
The simple answer is 'NO'. I personally have found FedEx to be ZERO problems and very flexible to work with! If I could afford the freight, I'd specify FedEx from the U.S. all the time.

OUCH!!
At least I didn't get the 'handling fee' from Canada Customs!

For my $25.00 shipping 'hit', the package DID show up INSIDE 3 days. Pretty darn good for a postal service, if I do say so myself. Oregon to Ontario with an International border. Yup -- not bad.

Re: What's with Perry's?

Here is a link of the USPS Postage rate calculator for Canada. One thing to note is that international shipments don't have the balloon charge for large packages that the regular priority mail packages have. As long as it falls under the 108" length + girth it just goes by weight. This chart doesn't include insurance or any other extras.

You can find the postage calculator here. Canada You can find Priority Mail International about 3/4 of the way down the page.

Thanks
Ronnie

Well thats good to know...From now on i'll ship FedEx to Canada...I think it would be a smart move because of the tracking system they have too.
You know Perry's has some very hard to find planes on his site ...I think the shipping is not that bad anyway.
I'm thankful to Bob for helping me out with some hard to fine diecast planes i now have in my collection

Re: What's with Perry's?

I use Fedex for the majority of my domestic shipments but they are way to high for me to use for international shipments. If you need tracking have you tried the USPS Express Mail International. I think it is a 3-5 service (not guaranteed) and only slightly higher than Priority Mail International. It is my understanding that Express Mail offers true tracking. The shipping price includes $100 of insurance coverage.

I would have to agree.I have brought a few hard to gets over the last couple of years and found his service to be pretty good.Shipping doesn't really doesn't come into it as he isn't that far off the mark anyway.Plus I like the rolled up newspaper.Great way to find out whats happening in the US

One thing I have noticed is the price of his models which are sometimes under that of Ebay.So the more of these you buy and working on the law of averages the shipping really doesn't come into it.I just think we are lucky to have access to these models.Imagine having to bid for them on ebay and the hassels that are involved in doing that..
