rough idea of cost to ship to Canada from US

Anyone know approximately what it would cost to ship a 1:32 Corgi from the US to Canada. After reading other posts, I would probably want tracking also since it seems to take a long time to clear the border.

I mailed by UPS a 1:72 B 17 to Canada for the $16 to $18 range, don't remember exactly. It had tracking, and was insured.

Thanks, I figure the 1:32 will probably be twice that.

Really shouldn't be, Bill..You didn't mention specifically what the model was, but a 1/72nd B-17 is heavier than a 1/32nd P-51 Mustang...

Re: rough idea of cost to ship to Canada from US

My Canadian friend hates to be shipped to via UPS because they act like a shipping broker, what ever that means. I know that because of this he is hit with duties, taxes, and transportation charges that he doesn't have to pay if I ship via the USPS.

True, even when shipping overseas the 1/32s seem to cost about the same as the 'heavies' (B17 & B24). Also, USPS seems to be a very reliable and efficient service provider .

I shipped the B 17 as a gift so the recipient did not need to pay any taxes or fees.

I had a Barkhorn sent to me from Canada. Shipping was $20.00 USD as I recall and it took just about 9 days to arrive. We encountered no customs problems.

Re: rough idea of cost to ship to Canada from US

Went to the post office today and the price for priority shipping of a 1:32 Corgi Spit to Canada is $17.65. Just about $5 more than it would cost to ship in the US (of course, there are extra fees for tracking, etc).

This is the best way to ship to Canada.

Airmail Letter Post specs
You may already know this but you can send a box by Airmail Letter Post, most say, it's not a letter. However, as long as the total dimensions of the parcel don't add up to more than 36 inches (length + width + depth = 36" or less, note that the dimensions are + not x) and the package is 4 pounds or less, it can be shipped this way. This method of shipping is considerably less than any other method, quite a few postal employees don't even realize this.
