What's the most economical method for shipping overseas?

One of the most frustrating dilemmas that I encounter is that I find things over seas that I can't find here, but shipping usually spoils the deal. This also has occurred stateside. So, I thought that I'd tap the knowledge of TMH members for opinions on what reliable shipping couriers services are the most economical.

P.S. forward a link to this thread to 99% of eBay sellers.

Re: What's the most economical method for shipping ocerseas?

If you ship to the UK & use airmail post it is costly (but your stuff arrives in 4-7 days). Using the other option (land, sea 7 air?) it takes 4-7 WEEKS! If you are willing to wait the cost is about 1/2. Playing the waiting game is generally no fun.

Re: What's the most economical method for shipping overseas?

It really is a bummer as it seems that shipping from the US to the UK is relatively inexpensive whereas shipping from the UK to the US can be rather expensive.. I am in the same boat, finding GREAT deals in the UK only to be gouged by shipping and spoiling the deal..

As an E-Bay seller, airmail is really the only option. Neither the buyer or seller wants to wait 4-7 weeks to finish a deal.

For what it's worth, my daughter shipped two botles of wine, which must clear customs, from the Czech Republic on November 24. The package arrived here on Friday, December 1. That was via air and I have no idea of the cost.
