Hey Wurger.

The thing with moneyorders is the waiting. You have to wait for it to get to you, then usually when you take it to your bank to have it cashed they may make you wait while it is verified. Depending on the financial institution they may charge you a service fee for cashing it as well. Some moneyorders are not valid in all countries, so it can be a bit tricky. There are a lot of people who don't trust online banking/payment services though, so you have to deal with it sometimes on eBay.
Good luck.

Your best bet is talk to the bank where you will be cashing the money order and see what they say. Ask if they charge for cashing certain money orders and do they prefer one type over another. In Canada most banks won't accept a money order from another country unless it is an international one.

Re: International Moneyorders

Also look into Postal Money orders. Most countries post offices have agreements to cash international money orders free of charge. Not sure if yours does.
Then you can cash it at the post office instead of the bank.

Re: International Moneyorders

International Money Orders can be a real pain sometimes. For example, I bought an item from France from a seller who didn't accept paypal. I attempted to use a United States Post Office International Money order, but banks in France will not accept them.

I then went to an American bank and got another type of International Money order (in Euros), sent it to France, and but that didn't work because the French bank wouldn't accept it. After my money order was returned to me, I finally sent the seller cash (wrapped in Aluminum Foil). I knew that was risky, but I ran out of options, and in the end I received my package.

The other option was a wire transfer, but that can be very expensive.

By the way, below is a list of countries that accept US Postal Service International Money orders: Notice that countries such as Great Britain, Australia, France, Italy, and Germany are NOT on the list.
