| Re: Problems with shipping from US to Canada, mad Ebay buyer, need advice??
The postal system here maybe slow but if you use proper shipping labels and the address and postal code are clearly written it will be delivered. I would be very suspect of anyone saying it was lost.

I would agree here 100 percent if all the info is there it will get through, if it isn't the post still does a good job trying to figure it out. Just takes some time. Since 911 though customs can through a wrench into things. Even if your package gets through coming to Canada with out being taxed, and it is inspected/opened by customs they ding you with a handling charge anywhere form $5.00 to $8.00. Not sure how it works going from Canada to the States as I drive my packages across the boarder and ship from there. Do a little shopping get some pizza and wings and come on home. Now if my nephew how lives across the river in Buffalo NY would stay at the same address for more than 2 months I would get everything shipped to him and cut customs out of the picture.

| Re: Problems with shipping from US to Canada, mad Ebay buyer, need advice?? Thanks for all the replys, I knew you guys would have some insight on this issue. Im going to make sure the buyer gets this info so he can see these things do happen. I dont blame the guy for getting a little upset, I know whats it's like when you pay for something & it takes forever to arrive, been there myself. I have had delays shipping out of the USA, mostly with Canada & a few in the U.K. but I have only had one parcel go missing for good. That one was a F-4 sent to New Zealand which is odd because NZ & Australia always get there fast w/o issue. To make things go smoother for Canadian shipments I do what Hawkone says. I mark the box clearly with a large computer printed address lable, I mark the customs form as a Toy Airplane & as a Gift to avoid the buyers from being taxed. Sadly I guess it doesn't work all the time as we see here. I just want the buyer to get his model, it sucks it's taking so long. If this were to happen in the states I would have counted it as a postal loss by now & refunded his money. But I know the model is not lost just held up. The buyer has never had to contact Customs for anything & does not know where to start. Do any of you know who he can call if they are holding the parcel? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Problems with shipping from US to Canada, mad Ebay buyer, need advice?? Probably nothing unless they live in Vancouver or Toronto. I tried to contact Canada Post earlier this year about shipping to Peru but gave up as the organization is just too big. Like I've said on a previous post, shipping from Florida takes on average about 27 days. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Problems with shipping from US to Canada, mad Ebay buyer, need advice?? I doubt if Canada is much different to most countries these days as far as customs and post offices are concerned. I would recommend that ALL eBay sellers only send via a registered and insured method as that protects the seller AND the buyer. I have had two instances where parcels weren't delivered to me and I received replacement items from both sellers. PP, no offence to you but if I was your buyer I would have lodged a non received notice with eBay or PayPal by now as the buyer can't claim after 45 days. In this matter he has no proof that you sent it and you have no proof that he didn't receive it. Which is why registered mail or the US equivalent is the way to go. It's only a few more dollars and if you include it in your listing as a buyers cost you are covered. | |||||||||||||

I think that is jumping the gun just a bit. PhantomPhan said that it had only been 17 days from day of sale, that is not nearly enough time for some packages to go through from the US to Canada (or vice versa). I think 30 days is the earliest anyone should begin looking for a refund, especially if they asked to have it shipped by a method that can't be tracked. If you are that worried about something not showing up, you should ask for the more expensive trackable option. If you don't the least you can do is be patient.

Canucklehead, it is now about 25 days since 25th October, so 30 days is fast approaching.

| Re: Problems with shipping from Florida I have sent Graham in Western Australia two IXO models from our little town of 300,000--here in Florda. I send air mail/priority. He received the package in 10 days, complete with all the hanging chads I put on the parcel. Most postal authorities are now reluctant to say anything about Florida because of the 2000 election: chads and all. My packages to other Forum members have arrived safely, as has my first eBay sale. "Don't mess with Texas" used to be the slogan; now it is "Don't mess with Florida." Oh, by the way, 10 days to go until the end of hurricane season. Not one this year! All will be well. Besides, our Canadian neighbors are always welcome guests in Florida. Good luck, Gerry Pham. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Problems with shipping from US to Canada, mad Ebay buyer, need advice?? Tell your customer to be patient. I have waited over 8 weeks twice now for parcels from California to Toronto. Post office won't even do a search until 60 days. Your customer needs to be more patient. Even now I am waiting on a shipment sent Oct 25. It will get here eventually. On a funny note. I shipped out a number of parcels, all surface. 1 to GA, 1 to TX, and one to Switzerland. Guess which one arrived first after 4 weeks. Yes Switzerland arrived first, GA the next day, and the one to TX hs been 6 weeks and still not arrived. Customer asked for a refund, but said would repay when it arrives. He started complaining after 5 days. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Problems with shipping from US to Canada, mad Ebay buyer, need advice??
I agree. I have proof the parcel was sent, I have the postal receipt with the date & buyers address. Also the buyer was given a choice to go with either air mail parcel post which comes with insurance at no charge but costs a little more or the cheaper air mail letter post which comes with no insurance. His choice was to go with the cheaper uninsured rate. I do my best to tell every Canadian buyer the there is a chance of the pacel being held up as others here have confirmed. I have no problem refunding the buyer if the parcel was lost even if he went with the uninsured mail. I told the buyer I will refund him if the model does not arrive by next week. Trust me I feel really bad it's taking so long for this model to arrive, it pisses me off to. But I know his model is not lost it's just stuck in the system up there & sadly I have no control over that. As of right now I have a feedback score of almost 600, with no negative or nutrals. Over 90% or that rating is from items I have sold! It would be silly for someone to file & unsent item against me, Im not in the biz of ripping people off as my feedaback clearly shows!
