| Lucas Licensing just issued a press release stating newly formed company "eFX" will develop, manufacture and distribute collectible, limited-edition Star Wars replicas including full-sized and scaled props; studio- and reduced-scale vehicles and ships; full-sized helmets; and high-end, die-cast vehicles and ships that encompass the entire Star Wars universe. eFX plans to unveil its first products at Comic Con International in San Diego in July. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: eFX to produce high-end diecast Star Wars vehicles I would LOVE to see them do a nice quality Star Destroyer and Executor (Super Star Destroyer). Never heard of the company. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with. I love the Code 3 stuff as well as Master Replicas. Glad to see some other new stuff coming down the pipe. Thanks for the heads up. Here's their website: eFX TheForce.net says that the website is registered to a company called "ToyTeq" and the registrar is a guy by the name of Brian Ono who was "top dog" over the Star Wars line at Master Replicas. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: eFX to produce high-end diecast Star Wars vehicles Here is my two cents on what eFX should (or should I say need to) do with their diecast line: 1. Two different scale lines of each class of ship, one medium and one small. For example: Fighter class ships (X-Wings, TIE Fighters, etc) in both 1:48 and 1:72 would be great. Medium size ships like the Millennium Falcon and Slave One could be 1:72 and 1:144. This would be great for collectors who want to collect only one scale as well as those who have limit shelf space and need to keep all their models to the same relative size. Of course the large ships would need to be some really small scale. A 1:72 scale Star Destroyer would cool, but where ya gonna put it!!!!!!!!!! 2. Accuracy and Consistency (Relatively speaking). Use Fine Molds as an example on how to make accurate Star Wars models. Their line of plastic Star Wars kits are always spot on. Although Code 3's X-Wing is a work of art, their Millennium Falcon suffers from some scaling inaccuracies (but I still consider it an excellent show piece). Just make sure the quality is consistent across the entire line. In actuality, the hard part will be in trying to come up with definitive versions of each ship since no two models built by Industrial Light & Magic were ever alike. Small details very greatly from model to model even though they may represent the same ship in the movie. This is going to drive the rivet counters nuts! Both Fine Molds and Code 3 appear to have used details from several different filming models to come up with their respective versions of the X-Wing. 3. And most importantly, price. These need to priced so that the average "collector" can actually afford to "collect" them. This is what turned a lot of collectors off with the Code 3 stuff. Just to darned expensive. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: eFX to produce high-end diecast Star Wars vehicles I'd figure a 1:72 scale Star Destroyer would be about the size of a Chevy Suburban. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: eFX to produce high-end diecast Star Wars vehicles I guess it is about time to start adding on to the garage then. But where am I gonna hide that 1:72 Death Star II so that the neighbors don't think I'm some kind of fanatic. Seriously though, a scale that placed these around a foot long would be cool! | ||||||||||||||

| Re: eFX to produce high-end diecast Star Wars vehicles
An Imperial II class Star Destroyer is supposedly 1.600 meters long. That should make it 22,22 meters in 1/72.... | |||||||||||||||

| Re: eFX to produce high-end diecast Star Wars vehicles Would like to see them light up the engine thrusters and mandible lights like they did on the Master Replicas Millennium Falcon. It really would be the icing on the cake. I bought my son the Hasbro OTC Millennium Falcon that lights up and it is very cool. | ||||||||||||||
