Pappy Boyington's autobio "Baa Baa Black Sheep"

Hey guys,

I passed up buying an original hardcover 1958 edition of Pappy B's book. I plan on going back to the shop and snagging it. I was impressed by the last line of the book: (paraphrased) "Show me a hero and I'll prove he's a bum."

Can anyone recommend the book? I want it as I am in need of a good WWII read. It was $10.

TY

Ara

Ara, are you interested in any topic of WWII or just certain parts of it? Like ETO, MTO, Army Navy ....?

Right now I'm most interested in Pacific theater diary or biography. I am working on a Hellcat refinishing project and I'm in a Pacific theater mindset at the moment.

Have you read Pappy's BBBS?

Hi Ara

Its a good book, well worth $10 if its an edition from the 50's I have it as well as the one by Bruce Gamble call the Black Sheep that discusses his last two claims when he was shot down.

I have it, and I heartily recommend it.

Re: Pappy Boyington's autobio "Baa Baa Black Sheep"

Strongly recommend..... I recently had my local library get me a copy which I thoroughly enjoyed,it has some depth to it which I find lacking in similar works. Low point is the fact that his antics serving with the AVG are a little sparse, the high point is his time as a POW really puts you with him . A decent copy would be worth about $20-30 IMO.
