Hobby Shops in Delaware

I'm moving to Delaware (Newark) in a few weeks. Does anybody know of a really good hobby shop nearby?

Re: Hobby Shops in Delaware

John from SC,
Hey there.

Newark is a really nice town. I spent 10 years there and have very fond memories.

Unfortuantely hobby shops of note were few and far between, at least when I was there. The good news is that Philly and Balitmore are about an hour away in each direction and the drive is pretty easy going both ways. You shouldn't have any problems finding something in either city.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Hobby Shops in Delaware

Mitchell's. No doubt about it. It's on Concord Pike, just North of Wilmington. They specialize in rail (a lot of brass in back), but they have someone who's into diecast aircraft as well. Mitchell's is a Delaware institution.

There's also Simpson's Hobby Shop, on Foulk Road, not far from Mitchell's. I've never been thrilled with their selection (the space is a bit cramped too), but it's probably worth a look.

I'm sure there are some hobby shops in Newark as well, though I imagine you'd be hard pressed to find something as good as Mitchell's for diecast.

These fellas in the know will certainly be your best bet, but here's my typical Google search information.

Re: Hobby Shops in Delaware

I stopped off at Mitchell's today when passing through Delaware. Very nice hobby shop/toy store. Looks like THE place to go for trains, but not much diecast.
