Re: Membership involvement in production or flying of aircraft

Hey Sky thats great news,I am pleased for you.
Now you are one of the elite few that can say your hobby is your work and your work is your hobby.

Hello Jim, thanks, that's a great quote.

Yesterday I backseated it to Chattanooga, TN, with an instructor about to report to USMC OCS with an aviation contract. We were vectored in to CHA airport behind a jet with a loose door and a pair of USMC F/A-18s from VMFA-142, the Marine Reserve unit stationed at Dobbins. We were directed to look out for them, but didn't see them till they were parked on the ramp. The low vis camo really did hide those guys well. I managed to get a good luck at them once we were on the ground, but the only camera I had was my dinky little cellphone cam....so unfortunately I wasn't able to get decent pics of them. There was also a USN Texan II on the ramp. I have to say it was pretty cool to get a glimpse of those aircraft.

Today I did my instructor checkout in a Piper Arrow, while a fellow instructor played a clueless student. I had a serious case of checkitis, but got the thing on the ground safely. Right after I was directed to give an C-172 checkout for a Former Air Force Vietnam Vet O-2 driver, and current Corporate Jet Captain. Luckily for me, he was great through the whole process and flew well to boot. This has been great, and though I know instructing has its shares of ups and downs, I'm very much in love with this gig. Tomorrow I'm booked from 8 to 8, have to do a Flight Review for a Piper Tripacer owner, and have a student and 3 intro flights in the afternoon.

Just a private pilot working on his Instrument ticket. Grew up in an aviation family (dad was an AC in the Navy -Air Controlman- and then 42 years with the FAA). Member of the Pax River Navy Flying Club. Oh, and I volunteer at the National Air and Space Museum...

I was a high level (29,000 ft and above) enroute air traffic controller for 25 years.

Hey Hawk, I didn't know that. I have my CTO as well!

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
