Re: Membership involvement in production or flying of aircraft

Worked at Generous Dynamanicus for three years as a Logistics Support Engineer, could not even spell Ingineeaar when I started, but was responsible for the spare parts to keep that wonderful little Gatlin Gun of the F-111 firing. I got to sit in the cockpit of several F- 111's, but unfortunately never left the ground. When in AFROTC sat in the pilot set of a B-58, and help prevent a B-52 from losing an engine while do a ground tour of one that was to fly to England in 6 hrs.
If any of this counts, I qualify too.

Well, that F-111 Gatling gun gig must have been a while back, because already when I started flying them in early 1981, the guns weren't even maintained in working order at all, and we never used them. Many of the jets at Mountain Home still had them mounted, though (in the right half of the bomb bay). If not, there had to be ballast installed so as to keep the C.G. in limits.

Pretty cool that you did this, though. That 111 was a fine jet. The Aussies are still enjoying them, albeit not for much longer.

As a qualified air assault gradated I helped guide the uh-60’s and other US army hellos to land and pick up sling loads. I also spent many hours ridding in the back of uh-60 and ch-47
does that count????

Re: Membership involvement in production or flying of aircraft

Update on Status.

I have managed to gain employment as a Flight Instructor at Aero Atlanta, a Flight School and Aero Club located at McCollum Field near Kennesaw Georgia. Yesterday, I completed my checkout in the School's Cessna 172s, they also operate Cirrus SR-20s and 22s, which I will eventually also be checked out in. I'm going back into aviation full time, the lower cost of living here compared to Hawaii has made this possible. To say I'm happy would be an understatement.

Here's the link to the School's website, not on there yet, but it does show the School's fleet and rates.

So if anybody is in the Atlanta area, I'd be happy to go flying with you anytime.

Aloha,
Skysurfer808 aka William S. Cobb, CFI/MEI.

Hi Swoop, being a Yorkshireman cricket is my sport. I used to do a little fast bowling in my youth. Because I am a tall chap I could really slam that ball down and get some nasty bounces into the batsmans danger areas. Nothing sweeter than seeing the batsman going back to the clubhouse trailing his bat behind him. I always took it personal when facing them. they were on my pitch and shouldn't be there.
Happy days, and of course there was the warm beer in the clubhouse after the match. (and one or two hot ladies as well).

I watch football on TV but mostly I think footballers are a bunch of overpaid overhyped delicate little spoilt brats.
If those guys had to face a leather cricket ball coming at them at 100mph they would run home to momma.

God Bless America.
