| Re: Strawberry bitch haunted??? Ever been to Normandy? I have…I went there in June 1994. I f you don’t believe in ghost then you need to go to Normandy,,, they are there..I have an account of what happened when a friend and I took leave to go to the 50 anniversary of D-day…. We decided to take a nice walk on Omaha beach at Normandy after we ate dinner it was around 7pm June 4 1994. We heard German voices shouting out orders and machinegun fire, we both fell in the sand and as I was getting up I stuck my hand into the sand a grabbed a hand full of spent rounds. we where not the only group who had heard the German machine guns and hit the deck….some one then called the authorities to investigate. They came out and went in to the general direction we herd the machine gun fire come from. By that time our little group had turned in to a small crowed…we still heard machinegun fire and German solders shouting out orders, but this time it seemed the where at a different distance….. After a awhile a few of the veterans of the Omaha beach assault came down near the beach, and they also heard something, they also pointed out the German machinegun positions, when the French authorities came back and informed us they found nothing but they did tell us that the sprits of the dead are walking the earth. and said they where playing tricks on us. Latter the next day the people that live in and around Normandy told us they hear and see strange things coming from the beaches, and it not unusual to see ghost of allied and German solders walking the beaches. At the point where they consolidated the wounded and dying people have heard moans and crying. Most of the local stay away from the beaches, many say they feel like they are being watched, and also have had similar experience with the German mach gun fire. The town of Normandy is another story. Many have claimed that they have seen us solders wearing the uniform of allied invasion walking down the streets in broad daylight. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Strawberry bitch haunted??? An old lady who lived during the Normandy invasion and near the hedge rows says some times she hears the distinct rumblings of the tiger 1turing over its engine in here back yard. She said an engine fire on one of the Tiger 1 tanks before the invasion spread through out the entire tank setting off the ammunition stores killing the crew and destroying her house, she said the Germen’s rebuilt her house better then it was. But the ghost of that tiger one tank and its crew still patrol her back yard. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Strawberry bitch haunted??? Some back story: I remember when our CO told us about this opportunity to go 12 months before, said any one that’s wants to go will get a free once in a life time trip, and a chance to pay tribute to the men that died and lived to free the European continent of Nazism. we where serving with the US army 1/87th Inf. 25th infantry division, and we took leave so we could go to the 50th anniversary, it was part vacation part detail, our airfare was free and so was our room and board we stayed at a small Inn in Normandy that was around during the invasion… we where treated like the liberators, free food and drinks, after the celebration and memorial we took tours around the historical WWII battle sites. We came across a bunch of old worn out Germans who where showing folks where their machine gun nest was real interesting to here there side of the battle. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Strawberry bitch haunted??? None of this is surprising to me, though it makes great stories. Why is it that under Western science, that which lab coats can't see becomes unreal. Why can't we understand previous tribal cultural lore, which states that spirits can outlive the living, especially if their lives were suddenly plucked away. There is no better canditate for this then battlefields. I can remember driving one time with two friends along the Pali Highway on Oahu, where a battle was fought back in 1795, when the army of King Kamehameha invaded Oahu. Kamehameha's army advanced from what is now Honolulu up the Nuuanu valley until they came upon the Koolau mountain range. There the army of Oahu was pushed off the cliffs, and the present day Pali Highway was built over their bones. So one evening we were driving back from Honolulu, and went through the tunnel cut through the Koolau's. All of a sudden we heard the sound of many voices screaming, which we assumed was people screaming from the back of a truck. Only thing was there were no trucks, just two other solitary vehicles. Needless to say we were all speechless for the rest of the journey. So when I hear stories of haunted battlefields, i'm not surprised that there are still restless spirits roaming there. Hey skysurfer808, ever here of east range near Schofield barracks that place has plenty of Hawaiian ghost's, No one ever told me about them I had to find out for my self. I too have had a bad experience along the Pali Highway on Oahu, I used to fish at Kaneohe Bay, and one time I was headed back to Schofield barracks when all of a sudden my car stereo goes berserk flipping channels and all of my power windows start going up and down….when I turn off the highway on to H-1 every thing worked out just fine. Tell me about haunted Oahu. I lived there. I once had a pair of shoes that I liked to wear, well it had some small lava rocks that where embedded in the soles,,, well after I got out of the service I was wearing them while I was driving on night back home in north Dakota and wham my right rear tire blew out I lost control and rolled my car 10 times.. I broke my neck, I had gobs of bad luck before that …after that I mailed my shoes back to Hawaii,,,, POOF my bad luck disappeared…. | |||||||||||||||

I have always wondered that my self,,, I had always thought that if there is a weakness or tear in what ever barrier there is...maybe,, then we could see back in to the past..that has some how become powerful due to the events that have taken place there. I also think that emotions may be more powerful then we might realize and could effect the space-time continuum ...enough to imprint an area or the like a negative that is triggered by some people and not others...just an idea.

| Re: Strawberry bitch haunted???
Your deal with the shoes was due to Pele, the Hawaiian Volcano Goddess. Hawaiians believe it is bad luck to take any lava rock away from the islands, as every stone on the islands is one of her children. I'm sure you know this after your incident in Dakota. There used to be a company that specialized in selling Bad Luck Lava Rocks, only thing was the people who bought the rocks to give others bad luck ended up having the bad luck themselves....the company had so many complaints from their customers that they went belly up. So Note to those in this forum, NEVER take any rock away from the islands. If bad luck happens to you, don't say I didn't warn you. There are all sorts of superstitions about the Pali Highway. One of them concerns taking pork over it, if you do your car will die. I've never tempted fate to do this myself, but a friend of mine inadvertantly brought a ham sandwich on a city bus, and the bus stalled out till he got rid of the sandwich. I myself once uttered a phrase on the Pali in Hawaiian knocking Hawaiians, and when I did, my friend's car died...and we had to get it towed away. Another place that is well known for haunts is Kaena point, on the extreme northwestern tip of Oahu. This is known as a place where spirits would depart for the underworld...so if there is a tear in the space time continuium, that ought to be it. Interestingly enough, this was also where 2nd. Lt. Harry Brown dispatched two Kates on Dec 7, 1941. I've never heard of ghosts along the East Range of Schofield, but my knowledge of Hawaiian history does make me think of the first invasion of Oahu, when King Kahekili of Maui conquered Oahu from it's last King, Kahanahana. Apparantly Kahanahana had a beautiful wife who joined him in exile rather than surrender herself to the enemy. The two spent weeks wandering around central Oahu near the area around Schofield. Unfortunatly, Kahekili's army combed central Oahu and eventually captured the two of them. They were roasted to death in an imu (underground oven) and their skulls were used as drinking cups...a standard fate of captured Royalty...and meant to be the ultimate disrespect for another line's Mana (spiritual power). And of course there are all sorts of stories concerning Pearl Harbor. However, in my mind the most ironic one happened years before the Japanese attack there. Shortly after the turn of last century, the Navy decided to build a drydock in an area which was a temple to a Hawaiian Shark God. They were warned off by old Hawaiian priests, but the project went ahead anyway. After a million dollars was spent, the dock was completed, and opened to the sea for the first time. Unfortunatly the ocean flooded in, and destroyed the dock. The entire thing had to be rebuilt, and when it was finally drained, the carcass of a shark was found at its bottom. After conducting proper groundbreaking ceremonies presided over by Hawaiian priests, the drydock was rebuilt without further incident. For more on Haunted Hawaii, I highly recommend local author Glen Grant's ghost story books, especially the Obake Files. They are full of the lore of Haunted Hawaii. Skysurfer808
