Hi Guys,

The RAF is 90 this week, and the BBC is airing a spectacular display of aircraft in a fly-past tribute on TV today. It's now airing, as I write. I was thinking of how I could share this with you all, and I've come up with an answer : the BBC has a service called " bbc iplayer " which allows you to watch all the BBC programmes which have been aired for the last 7 days. You should be able to watch the fun tomorrow when today's programmes will be available for 7 days.

The programme is called : " Royal Air Force Tribute. 90 Years " ( aired 11th, July, 2008 at 14.15 U.K. time )

You'll find all the BBC shows on TV and Radio for the past week. Come to think of it, you can check it out right now and see what you can get. You might get hooked on BBC Soap Operas! It's ideal for all you ex-pat.s out there !

You can only view on computer.

The RAF Tribute ( in which the RAF were presented with new colours by the Queen ) show is 45 minutes long.

I guess that the RAF flypast will be available to view after midnight, U.K. time which means that New York members should be able to view at sometime after 6am tomorrow, East Coast time, and California Dreamers should be able to view it sometime after that......five hours later? ( 11 a.m.? ) Saturday.

The flypast was great. Planes from every decade in the RAF's history took part. Also, there were lots of replica bi and tri-planes to see, including the last German monoplane developed in 1918 ( was it a Hienkel monoplane? ). Also, you can see the B of B memorial Spit, Lanc. and Hurricane doing their duty.

For Antipodean members, you should be able to see the show sometime after midnight on Sunday morning, or ex-pats can start watching now and catch up with " East-Enders" or
" Doctor Who "!!

( I'm not sure about these times, but let me know how you make out ! )

It looks as if the rest of the Air Tattoo will be cancelled because of the dreadful weather which the U.K. has been experiencing. It's in Yorkshire, so I wonder if Jim has been drenched by the rain?

Oh well, at least the heavens failed to open until after the RAF flypast had taken place, so you'll still be able to see the fun tomorrow on BBC i player site.

RAF's finest fly in to launch the world's biggest airshow 2008

Three of the RAF's most courageous pilots braved the rain today to celebrate the media launch of the Air Tattoo 2008 at RAF Fairford.

War hero 90-year-old Sqn Ldr Ian Blair DFM flanked by Flt Lt Tony Parkinson and Sqn Ldr Jason Sutton OBE, the honoured guests of the air show organisors, who promised another 'breathtaking programme' of aerial displays and entertainment in six weeks time.




Taking place over the weekend 12-13 July, RIAT (The International Air Tattoo) this year celebrates the 90th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force and will be officially opened by the Queen herself on 11 July.
