| Re: A Pitch for Russian WWII Warbirds My two cents (and worth every penny): Thinking about what djjeffhall wrote above, for many buyers (me included) livery is more important than pilot. Heck, I've wound up with multiple versions of planes I initially had little or no interest in (Corgi's Swordfish is a classic example), just because the liveries are so darn cool. Of course, it helps if the model is well-executed, too. Even though I can't name a single MiG-3 (or IL-2, or I-16, or I-153) ace, I can see myself buying at least two MiG-3s (or IL-2s, or I-16s, or I-153s) because the schemes are different and nifty. I also assume (please correct me if I'm wrong) that much of the cost associated with manufacturing a new diecast model goes into mould production, and that once the production line is set up, it's *relatively* inexpensive to produce different schemes of the same airplane. Even if the first release doesn't tempt me, the fourth or fifth might, and the manufacturer has made a sale with -- again, *relatively* -- little added cost. So bring on the Russian WWII warbirds! (Oh, and an MC.202!) Put out snazzy liveries and people will buy 'em. Now to packaging: Please please please, diecast manufacturers, package your planes for easy removal and re-boxing! This is one thing Corgi does better than any other company, IMHO. | |||||||||||||

| Re: A Pitch for Russian WWII Warbirds Make an I-16 in 1:48 scale. Then make every other Russin bird that everyone is screaming for. But make that I-16 first, understand? Larz | |||||||||||||

| Re: A Pitch for Russian WWII Warbirds
That is the one I want to see too. So many paint schemes with the I-16 and it would look great in 1/48th scale. | ||||||||||||||
| Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes. | |||||||||||||||
