Ballad of the Diecast Collector

Slow day at the office, Folgore?
Why, yes. Yes it is.

Sung to the tune of "Ballad of the Green Berets," with apologies to SSgt. Barry Sadler:

Some boys grow up, and others don’t
If it’s a diecast toy, odds are they own’t
Men who lust for the P-61
When it comes out, they swear they’re done.

Diecast planes upon his desk
And more at home -- his house is a mess
100 planes come out this year
Missing even one is his greatest fear.

He’s got a box coming from the Mule
His credit card’s maxed, what’s he to do?
Trade and swap, or look on eBay
And use PayPal, to pay another day.

Diecast planes upon his desk
And more at home -- his house is a mess
100 planes come out this year
Missing even one is his greatest fear.

Back at home, his son’s mom sits
Waiting for their return from an afternoon trip
To the local diecast hobby shop
And she wonders what they’ve bought.

Look, he says, coming through the door
The Kate is in, there’ll be a Val next for sure
She does not care, she’s thinking of shoes
But at least, he’s not drinking booze.

Diecast planes upon his desk
And more at home -- his house is a mess
100 planes come out this year
Missing even one is his greatest fear.

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!
--sounds of a happy diecast collector

Folgore loves ... oh, yes he does ...
Diecast planes ... that fly above ...
He’ll do most a-n-y thing he can
To buy ‘em all on an installment plan!

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

A most excellent ballad.

Re: Ballad of the Diecast Collector

There once was a collecter from Hoboken,
Who saved up a bunch of Corgi token,
And then with a grin,
He did send them in,
But no plane did he get for his token.

Ok, its lame cheesy attempt at a limerick, but had to give it a shot.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Ballad of the Diecast Collector

Somebody oughtta start an Official Diecast Limerick Thread...

There once was a man who loved diecast
Models of planes that could go fast
He filled up his case
And ran out of space
Man, he had models coming outta his ---.
