Perhaps we can allow for vendors like Perry: A model is still EXTINCT if it’s out of production and practically (key word here is “practically”) impossible to find. Or, put another way, the model is EXTINCT, but it pops up occasionally much to the delight of resourceful collectors.
Under this definition, even if Perrys (or whoever) sells the model, it still merits recognition. Wouldn’t hurt to disclose where these extinct models can still be had— if they can still be had.
How’s that for tip-toeing through a minefield–? | I think that we should exclude any model that is still sold by regular online and retail outlets. Something you can find only by sheer luck on eBay, is a lot closer to the original idea expounded at the opening of this thread by Gort. As far as the price that an eBay seller might ask, I think we should be flexible on this. Many eBay sellers don't seem to have a clue about the value of their offerings. Some "classics" might be had for less than their original retail price. |
