Suppose You Could Have Only One

Most of us have rather extended wishlists for diecast aircraft models, but what happens when we are forced to prioritize them? For example, say you could have only one of each of the following either /or pairings---in any scale you wish---which would you choose---the first one, the second, or neither?

WWII:

1) P-61 or HE-219
2) LA-7 or Yak-9
3) Tony or Frank
4) A-20 or PE-2
5)Short Sterling or FW-200
6)PZL-11 or Fokker DXXI
7) Fiat CR 42 or I-153
8)Tempest V or Spitfire MK XXI

Post WWII

9) A-1 or F-105
10)B-47 or B-58 Hustler
11)Mig-15 or Mig-23
12)Kfir or Viggen
13)B-36 or Bear ( TU-95 )
14)Mirage F-1 or F-111
15) F-89 or F-106 ( Delta Dart )

WWII:

1. HE-219
2. No preference.
3. No preference.
4 A-20
5. Stirling
6. Fokker DXXI
7. Fiat CR-42
8. Tempest V

Post WWII:

9. F-105
10. B-58
11. MIG-23
12. Viggen
13. B-36
14. F-111
15. F-89

I'd prefer the Stirling in 1/72. The rest I wouldn't be too fussy about - except that the shipping charges for a 1/48 B-36 would be killer.

Re: Suppose You Could Have Only One

Good question. I would go with the B-58 in 1/144th scale.

Re: Suppose You Could Have Only One

Spit and Tempest would be nice, not too much into the 4 engined heavies/bombers/transports.

Sums up my sentiments rather superbly

A Tempest or Fokker D.21 in Finnish markings, in 1/48th.....nice......

But, a (good) Short Stirling is what I crave for !

I wish Hobbymaster made Four-Engined stuff in 1/72.(sigh)....

A Hobbymaster 'Short-Stirling' would be the 'Dogs-*ock' for me !!!!!

I think Corgi could do it better.

I'm interested to know your thoughts on that one, Canucklehead !

I rather thought the recent WW.II era stuff like the SBD, TBM & Harvard from Hobbymaster are superb in 1/72nd.

I'd reckon they're edging ahead on both quality & price, which is WHY I'd like to see it executed by Hobbymaster; though, I realise, in all-honesty, it's Corgi who ARE the ones who are destined most likely to make that exotic choice of Bomber !

Hobbymaster & LARGE 1/72 Bombers aren't happening........ yet, (if ever ?).

While HM has made some very fine models, I have yet to be convinced they can pull off the heavies (I look forward to them proving me wrong). On the other hand, while Corgi has put out some absolute carp, they seem to have a knack of absolutely nailing the look of the RAF stuff, especially the larger birds.

Regardless, it's probably a ways down the road before anyone attempts the Stirling. Like the P-61 and several others mentioned in Epapazian's list, the subject matter may be a little too esoteric for any company to approach with anything but extreme caution.

That's JUST what I'd fear, but they DID pull-off a 'master-stroke' with the 1/48th Buffalo.

Admittedly, colour schemes helped that sell nicely

& SACRILEDGE; they AIN'T done a 'Finnish' F-2

Astounding, when you think that the Finns were (by far) the most successful 'Buffalo' exponents.

Anyhow, they went out on a limb, with that one.

It's gonna take someone w/*alls to make the Stirling, BUT, it's a Guaranteed~seller !!!!!!!!!! (if done correctly)
