Gulp time–!

I just receive my Triple Nickle Phantom from whom I won’t say, and I nearly croaked. I’ve never seen a worse example of pure devil-may-care, negligent, ham-handed packaging in all my life, and I’ve received hundreds and hundreds of boxes.

The vendor (nobody who posts or advertises on MHII, thankfully) butchered an existing box to accommodate the Phantom, used no peanuts or packing balloons or anything to cushion it, carelessly slapped on some packaging tape (one side of the box was so badly bent in the tape overlapped it), called it good and sent it along.

I nearly swallowed my tongue. Incredibly, despite this execrable packing job, the F-4 (and model box) arrived with nary a scratch! Talk about miracles! I counted my blessings and decided to give the vendor the ol’ heave-ho!

Have any of you guys received a box crumpled and bruised and beat to Hades, only to find your model arrived untouched? It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen.

Glad it turned out OK Gort!

I think I've posted this before, but I received the same thing from an e-Bay win from England. The ole chap decided to wrap the Corgi box in brown parcel paper. That's it! No extra box, packing peanuts, or anything. Just friggin butcher paper for the trip across the Atlantic!!! The Corgi box was of course, crushed to hell. The plane however, is fine. Luckily, I got it at a great price and am going to repaint the plane anyway, so I don't need the box. Moral of the story: if you're going to advertise a cut rate shipping cost on e-Bay, warn the buyer that it'll probably be a cut rate packing job! Extra Moral: if the shipping price seems too good to be true, it probably is!

Re: Gulp time–!

I don't think naming the vendor is wrong. Otherwise why even put up the post.

I would much rather know of them before I decide to spend my good money with them.

I don't know about that extra moral, Big Boys War Toys shipped a 1/32 Corgi Bf 109 from Florida to Ohio week or two ago for $4 and some change. I must say it was one of the best packing jobs I've ever seen and got here quick. They shipped it in the original brown box that they get them from China in, along with some fine packing material for cushioning. I highly recommend them and their ridiculously affordable shipping!!

Post Re: Gulp time–!

About four years ago I ordered a very expensive Corgi truck set which came in a presentation box slightly larger than a Lancaster box & weiged about twice what a Lanc does & the only protection the vendor gave to this set was a single layer of thin brown paperI was amazed to find both the box & model in pristine condition

Glad that worked out, Nim. Two years ago an on-line vendor stuck a Model Power Fokker D VII into a mailing envelope and sent it my way. No protection whatsoever. Arrived crushed. I would love to have had a face-to-face chat with the gentleman. As it was, he wouldn’t reply to my emails.
