Wings Over Vietnam -- Military Channel

MC's having a Wings week, caught the Wings Over Vietnam "Mig Killers" last night, which I almost didn't record as I thought the subject beat to death -- even by this Phantom Nut's standards. However, it was well-done with some good interviews and insights into things the dogfights show glossed over -- good interview with Cunningham and Ritchie in particular. These guys had major brass ones, no doubt. And it's one of the only shows that attempted to paint a realistic and honest picture of the struggle the U.S. had against the Migs... including the air forces kill ratio compared with the navy and the impact of Top Gun -- particularly interesting with Cunningham's big day. Apparently, that "braking" manuever we see Maverick do in TG the movie is something cunningham did to beat an instructor at top gun and used to down Col Toon/Tomb/Bugs Bunny -- or whomever else was piloting "Splash Three".

Should be rerun if you missed it....

Lots of great footage of Phantoms, including some with gun pods -- like to HM do one of those from the first Phantom "Gunfighters" squadron.

Re: Wings Over Vietnam -- Military Channel

I don't think so JP, think it's just a blitz of old Wings shows being rerun this week, so just cq your DVR guide and mark 'em for recording. That's what I did for the whole week as there's lots of different shows that are interesting.
