Re: It's a mad, mad ebay world

Here's another one FRANKLIN MINT 1/48 DIE CAST AIRPLANE P-51 MUSTANG - eBay (item 110259594344 end time Jun-11-08 07:04:00 PDT)

FM P-51s are hot items on ebay right now, which is just silly -- can get this one for $50-60 at a few places. It's not like Google is hard to use... Pretty funny.

Re: It's a mad, mad ebay world

I wonder if the rise in FM selling prices on Ebay has any relation with the mandated pricing strategy that they have now implemented on new releases? Just a thought

I don't think so, as prices for FM stuff on ebay have been ridiculously low for some time and continue to be, aside from a few bizarre spikes on rather common models. At least that P-51 is somewhat HTF these days.

But I've got several FM models - F-18s, Tornados, F-15, etc. for $30 or under the last few weeks -- all models retailing for $90-120. Granted, none were 2008 releases but the price points for those has not affected legacy models I would say. Seems ebay may be a way to get around the mandated prices? The point for my posts here though is really why are prices on these models going so far above what you can buy them for at retail sites online?

People just too lazy to do a bit of research I guess.

How about this one? Corgi B-17 "Yankee Doodle" (Ebay # 200229609343 ). It wasn't that long ago Choate was selling them for $29.99 - and it took him a long time to sell those.

Well, it makes me feel better about having paid $50 for mine!

Re: It's a mad, mad ebay world

Is this now the equivalent of the Flying Mule Fw 190?

I was hoping this one was going to go for $40 so I could snatch it up, looks like Perry's deal of $44.99 plus shipping ($7.50 I believe) is pretty darn good as opposed to $122.00 or whatever it's at now. This is from the same seller that I got a Corgi P-40 US35207 for $13.00. Sometimes they sell things for filthy cheap, sometimes they make out really good, I guess it all evens out in the end.
